Easily fixed with temporary stands and seating set ups. They did it in the early days at Carrara. You'd only need a capacity of say, 5k. Throw in a couple of mounds for standing room and you're away.saint-stu wrote:It's a shame they haven't really allowed for spectators in the new Moorabbin designs. A new grandstand on one of the wings would have been great. I quite like the one at Frankston Park.

Sandy has a licence, but they may cut ties with us at the end of this year.Bernard Shakey wrote:Sandy already have a license, so what's the point?WellardSaint wrote:http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-07-27/a ... ent-league
it's a bit of a long boring read but the important last paragraph is:
AFL Victoria will reveal on August 7 whether Frankston was successful in its bid to return after a season out of the VFL,
but no other licenses will be considered for 2018.
So if the Zebs cut ties with our club, where do these guys play?
Freeman, Battle, DMack, Wright, Goddard and all the rest?
Is this just a change on paper, do they keep playing as Zebs and if they have good form,
the Saints ask the Zebs to release them to play AFL?
- how about if the Zebs get into the finals and say "no you can't have them, we need them"
If the Dolphins get up, do the Saints go begging to them so our players can play there?
Maybe the Dolphins' application had something to do with Zebs wanting freedom?
Zebs maybe thought "we need to develop a winning culture, and having these Sainters here is not good for cohesion,
the AFL-listed players are not here for "Zebs" but only here to get into Saints"
So Saints can get into bed with Frankston.
In other words, they might not want to list many Saints players in their squad.
All leagues have to submit a list of their players to the VFL well before the start of the season,
and they could pick 3 or 4 Saints players or none at all. Their list management might not allow for a lot of our guys,
who may not suit their needs. They will pick and choose.
Imagine if 3 guys end up on the Zebs' list, another 3 on Dolphins' list, another 3 on another list...
how do our coaches keep an eye on VFL guys' progress?
A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.

St Kilda will monitor internal rumblings at Sandringham with doubts surrounding the long-term viability of their partnership following AFL Victoria's confirmation on Thursday that the VFL Development League would be discontinued at season's end.
As had long been mooted, the development league, formerly the VFL reserves has been shafted, with AFL Victoria citing logistical and cost issues as the reason.

Some local sides aren't all that far away from that price for a season. A club like st kilda should absolutely have their own reserves, it's as important as the senior teamsaintbrat wrote:thejiggingsaint wrote:Could we just scrap the VFL alignment thingy then, and just play our reserve games as curtain raisers for AFL games? Could THAT work?saintbrat wrote:Both will suffer from the VFL decision ( to go to AFL commission) to Not continue with Development leaguesaintspremiers wrote:Zebs will go bust if they ditch us, but we can't afford our own VFL side either.
This is just another tactic by them to try and dictate to us how many Zebs players play each week.
Hopefully we will hold them to ransom and stand our ground.
What point for Aligned VFL teams to have playing listscless than 20
Don't blame them but neither Saints nor Sandy can afford it
Wonder what othe aligned clubs are doing - is it real that Box Hill are really Hawks
you got a spare $500,000 Plus Jigster? thats the cost of fielding a VFL/ reserves team,
St. Kilda Football Club. Going strong, since 1960

Re: Zebs Board thinking about cutting ties to Saints...
could be a blessing in disguise they could be forced to give us a stand alone team and help fund as it is pretty much their fault and we have to have a second team as part of our afl license and would be cheaper without the dev league
