You mean the only key fwd last week who kicked multiple goals (3) in a team that struggled to get the ball inside 50 with any cohesion? I don't think that would be a smart move. Bruce did his job last week. He definitely wasn't the problem. Carlisle on the other hand was dreadful and if he has another game like that then the fwd line might be an option for him - not because Bruce isn't working though.spert wrote:Could be good chance to try the strong marking Carlise in the forward line this game and Bruce down back- he is not doing enough as a forward right now.

Jake could be sent forward with the comment that it's not a long-term solution, just an experiment.
At least he hasn't been ruined by Hamill's ideas, so a fresh forward who doesn't know the Hamill way could be a wonderful change for the better.

I wanted to put $20 on Port to win by at least 35 points (it's pick your own line, with Port -34.5)
but it's only paying $1.50 so the bookies are not being nice to me

No Nick, Joey, Gilbo, Armo, Dempster or Chips.
Inexperienced line up across almost every line. We will find out today whether our recruiters have got it right over these past four years.

I am hoping for a nice surprise re talent, but I am fearing what we will see.
After the last two weeks the club very much has the backs to the wall.
I can in part understand the Dons match as the club and team were so hyped up for Tigers game and it all probably went to their heads. but to then dish up the same rubbish last week was heartbreaking.
PA are almost as inconsistent this year as the Saints. But then again we are consistently poor in Adelaide

Port dispose of rubbish sides well in Adelaide this year. We are currently in that zone so thy shouldn't have any trouble tonight. Port need a big win after losing last week. Can't see them dropping two in a row.saintsRrising wrote:, and thesamuraisaint wrote: Inexperienced line up across almost every line. Windy and/or wet weather looks a good bet which can only help us.
The true test is the last 4 rounds - all in Melbourne at Etihad and the G. We play our best footy of the last few years at the G so the Dees and Richmond are very beatable.
Ports percentage of 130% is telling - they'll eat us alive if we show any signs of weakness.

Re: Team v Port
A bit puzzled by White's selection this week
I watched the Sandy vs. Geelong game on tele and thought he had a fair shocker.
a couple of bad turnovers inside F50 and he didn't seem to be able to nullify his opponents
Black was in everything in the first and White was out pointed on a couple of occasions
He has a nice kick on him but, a bit like Savage, it seems to go to his head and he just blasts it long and hard too often
Needs to think through his options and use the penetration in his kicking to open up the play (like Webster).
I am a fan of the kid, I like his aggression and he seems to have a good skill set, but from what I've seen (not heaps), he lacks composure
we need more composure and strategic thinking in the team, not less
maybe it's a learning curve selection, to show him all the things he needs to work on
I hope he proves me wrong this week, he did some good things in his one game last year, so fingers crossed

Crown Bet
has given us longer odds now
we're $5.75
the line is 38.5 points
Not sure why, late changes? Is Hickey coming in for Longer?

Re: Team v Port
think we'll see a few more youngsters given a chance if we lose this as it's season over. but if we win we're right back in contention. so it may actually work against us to win. can't see us winning unless port are off their game, but of course they are the sort of wins we all love the most.

I did too - dropping him was obviously a weather decision. Good conditions for smalls. Gresham had three important kicks before half time and I'm looking to him to.... my wife gets cross with my sarcasm, rightly so. But I so want us to win.

We have a problem.
Now what?
Let me answer that partially.
1. Weller is done. I will never ever even read his name on a betting page again.
2. thats all i have.
If you want we can swap next week? Ill take your polo - and you lay down 'my' bets.. I think we are close - we need a plan B.

Re: Team v Port
For everyone saying how young we were this week.
GC were younger. Carlton, Freo and Melbourne were all pretty much exactly the same.
Obviously Brisbane will be much younger today.
So its great that we played a young side - but lets not exaggerate that aspect of it.

Heres what i do as standard. unless im feeling risky OR ADVENTUROUS (rarely - refer to my pizza night. That was a adventure night)
1. saints to win - unless really absurd odd offered on margin.
2. weller/membery to kick first goal. I usually go with weller because IM AN IDIOT AND SEE THE FAT CASH. This never ever pays off.
3. Most goals or most poss.
Good luck - win - Im sorry i cant buy you a new polo this week. I was close to winning a bet this week and then i wasnt close.
