Rowan Marshall
If you thought the selection of Josh Battle came as a surprise, this week's selection from out of left field comes in the form of one Rowan Marshall.
He'll be wearing #43 and stands at a lofty 201 cm, with a reasonably solid frame, weighing in at 98kg.
The 21-year-old lad was originally recruited from Portland, before going to North Ballarat where is showed tremendous ability. Apparently he is a beautiful kick of the football and a very versatile player.
Best of luck to Rowan with his AFL debut!
Holler for a Marshall, 7 days a week! MAAAAARRRRRSSSSSHHHHHALLLLL!!!
(Sorry, 12th Man version wasn't available)

Re: Rowan Marshall
Not really he was upgraded from a rookie last week so that he could be selected as a St Kilda emergency.
That in itself indicated that the club was looking for a chance to play him.
They are using the suspension of Membrey to give Battle and Marshall each a taste of the big time.

I'm hoping Holler For can get 10 possies and score 2 goals. That would be Utopia.

We are playing against one of Nazi Germany's elite military units, the Brandenburger Commandos,
and we decide to pick another Boy Scout who has just learned how to shave.
Be nicer to give him a taste in JLT.
Seriously poor selection

Re: Rowan Marshall
Very interested to see him at this level. This is the perfect time for the selectors to have a look like they did with Battle last week.

The Swans this weekend will have in their team 5 players younger than Rowan.WellardSaint wrote:

Re: Rowan Marshall
Wish him all the best, but if he has a first game blinder, can we fit him in with Membrey, Bruce and Roo. I say yes because he gives us potentially that 2nd ruck/forward.
Think of me long enough to make a memory.

Great problem to have.Bruce G McAbee wrote:Wish him all the best, but if he has a first game blinder, can we fit him in with Membrey, Bruce and Roo. I say yes because he gives us potentially that 2nd ruck/forward.
But seriously, it's in Sydney against the rampaging Swines.
We NEVER get a blinder debut game against big odds/hardly ever against anyone full stop.
But if we do and win it also....watch out!

Re: Rowan Marshall
There is nothing like the debut of a promising youngster to add to the excitement of a match for us punters.
The optimism of have we found one here.
Go get them Rowan.

Odd comment.
I though he looked good and showed a lot.
He made GOOD decisions and fora debut game when most of his team mates were playing panicked football he was one of my few rays of sunshine for the night.

You'd say he's in front of Battle and Paddy at the moment.

Re: Rowan Marshall
Composed with the footy. Used it well. Worked hard. Showed smarts. Got a dozen or more touches from watching (not the stats sheet) and from limited opportunities. Good debut.

Re: Rowan Marshall
This is what is wrong with St Kilda and St Kilda supporters - we have been starved of success for so long that each and every debutante MUST be a world beater from day one.
Can't we just let them get used to the speed of the AFL before writing them off
Who here can claim that they were the best in their profession after the first day on the job?????
