And no, we haven't improved on last year. Our percentage is poor because we don't win by big margins but lose by them.
Think of me long enough to make a memory.

How does Lonie contunue to get a game?
He has turned over the ball every time he gets it and that's not often.

Yes you are correct but do you agree that Roo has played great footy for the last 4 or 5 years with crap delivery against very good opponents?Milne wrote:Disagree. Rubbish delivery coupled with a very good performance by Melican.Joffa Burns wrote:It is sad watching Roo an all time great reduced to this.
Please retire!
Yes he would be better than what will replace him, but for his own legacy I'd like to see him retire at years end.

Forget about sacking the coach. It seems like that's the only thing we do well. Do a George Costanza and do the opposite!

We have to many soft players. We need some mongrel. The number of missed and slipped tackles is disgusting.
These players need to do a pre season with the storm and learn to tackle

He's going 100% at turning the ball over. 3 disposals 3 turn overs. Should try and get a game at Port MelbourneStPeter wrote:How does Lonie contunue to get a game?

Be really good if we could stick a couple of tackles - WAP. Letting them run through the middle with not a care in the world. Sadly some are just not up to it and never will be. Mark their cards and stick to it. I can't stand it when there is such weak efforts.

They need to draw a line in the sand. I'd rather have a team of tough guys losing and hurting the opposition than a team of wimps. These guys like billings, acres , lonie, we'll never win a flag because in tough games like tonight they won't put their body on the line. Bring back armitage and Weller. And bring Baker out of retirement

Our midfield is getting molested, they need to step up their workrate and intensity.
Riewoldt is either injured (his dicky knee?) or the game is going past him. They need to get a bit unsociable and back each other contest by bloody contest.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Swans Round 18 2017
Well done! First post that isn't a two year olds tantrum. The Swans didn't kick a goal after the 15 minute mark of that quarter. There is room for improvement in this game. Probably won't win, but it not game over yet....vantheman wrote:call me an unbridled optimist, but i think that we are still in the game

saints cant still come back
Now, back to the tantrum.

Longer - zero impact, as usual Hickey looked good today 30 disposal
Billings - kicking poor.As usual A child still
Lonie - weak and ineffective, as usual Last game for the year Dmac or Connellan
Joey - too slow He's Retiring
Steven - is he playing? Late change i think
Ross - doing nothing Only effective if our grunt is working

Re: Match Thread Saints v Swans Round 18 2017
We actually had more of the ball that half. But we were often pathetic with it.
Kick to advantage? No we prefer to try the improbable.
ie
Webster kicking long to Bruce with three on him, rather than a 30 m to a team mate in space.
Lonie to Gresham, despite Gresham's opponent being in front of him and that their were two tall Saints to pass to instead.

I actually thought Acres looked OK - at least composed till he was hospital passed by Webster....
He'll be dropped for sure next week!!

I genuinely thought Jack Steven wasn't playing... zero clearances. That whole midfield mob should feel ashamed to get paid this week

Re: Match Thread Saints v Swans Round 18 2017
an old time coach would motivate these guys by screaming at them and showing them the scoreboard - so ehow we're still half in it, when we should be buried and the mourners already gone. despite playing with such peahearted effort. play with some bloody pride and belief and energy and win this damn game.
but richo is more the quiet type, so i doubt we'd hear much emotion coming from the changezroom, and no change coming from the players. hope i'm wrong.

Starting the half with Dunstan, Ross and Stevens in the centre. Stevens looked like he was tagging Kennedy as well.
No speed and playing a man down basically.
No wonder they keep running away from us

Started the game & that quarter in the forward half. Maybe carrying an injury?
Otherwise, not sure why you'd keep him out of the middle

Re: Match Thread Saints v Swans Round 18 2017
The game is going the same way as our previous encounter at Docklands - and for the same reasons. They are simply better than us, and barring injury appear certs to make the GF. As long as we recruit small players, most of whom have little if any pace advantage over larger opponents, we will be thrown aside. Our last chance is to do what they do to us - throw then aside and go in with the knees - even after the whistle has gone.
