Hope this kid has sensible people around him.

The fans play a part in this too.
We need to turn the hype levels down.

.
The main issue with Owen was his Dad dying. The Saints had a number of successful young players debut. ie 16 year olds.

Battle is almost 19 at 18 years and 10 months.

As for Battle he is an "old" Year 12 as he has taken an extra year to spread his Year 12 over two years. He did half his Year 12 last year and is concluding it this year.

So Battle is not really a "shoolboy" at all. He is a man.

Several of his team mates for this game debuted at a younger age.

I left All Saints RC school, in Anfield, Liverpool in 1960, at the age of 15. After ten years there, the only thing I left with was the sound of the door closing behind me, and the awful realisation that I was about to enter the world of adults. Fast forward 37 years. When my employers here in Melbourne decided they wanted to get rid of me by "re-assigning"me to a permanent arvo shift. (Expecting me to oblige them by leaving) I took the opportunity of utilising my (ahem) "free time" in the mornings in pursuit of SOME sort of academic qualification before I "snuffed it". I decided to take one subject a year over four years, at Holmesglen TAFE. It proved to be one of the better decisions I've made during my long life. Naturally, I was a LOT older than my fellow students, but loved the environment, and the challenge of study. Also, the younger students were such fun to be around! Their humour and youthfulness helped keep me young! (In heart !) I loved every second of my time at Holmesglen! ( though at times I felt like that Rodney Dangerfield character!)

atleast when Nick says give it to me this time- the player can

http://www.saints.com.au/news/2017-07-1 ... a-debutant
“It’s a pretty surreal moment finding out in front of the boys in the team meeting. ‘Richo’ broke the news to me and I was pretty stunned at the time and stoked and can’t wait to get out there,” Battle told saints.com.au on Thursday.

“As soon as I found out I went straight into a line meeting after that and then once the line meeting finished I went and rung Dad straight after that.

“When I told him I think he got a bit emotional so he said, ‘I’ll give you a ring back’. He’s helped me a lot to get to where I am now and I’m very grateful.”

>>>>>>>>>>>
Battle admits it will be surreal to help spearhead St Kilda’s attack alongside a player he grew up idolising in Nick Riewoldt.

“It will be pretty surreal to get the chance to play with Nick Riewoldt. I idolised him as a kid as a guess all young kids do and looked up to him. Getting the chance to run out alongside him is pretty special,” he said.

No offence to Josh, I hope he had a long career with the Saints.

But.. is he really going to help us win the game? Is he going to be picked to play finals?

If the answer is no (as it should be)
Shouldn't we be picking blokes like Acres/Dunstan?!

Acres might give us 20 touches and a goal.

Battle will be lucky to get 10 touches.

You really are a cheerful chap

What shred of evidence do you have for this insight

What would be your pearls on the weekend if we had gone with dunstan / acres instead and we needed in hindsight a tall mobile forward .

I am an acres fan, but his last senior outing , the suns game , was seriously underwhelming on any measure , and we don't need dunstan in our emerging midfield right now

Anything positive to say about our current shape

Looks like BM is back - no quoting!
