Re: Match Thread Saints v Tigers Round 16 2017
It was a pleasure to be there tonight, to see such a fantastic win.
Winners all over the ground. Seb Ross to me was the standout BOG, but so many others had super games.
I was sitting in the 3rd row level one, which allowed me to see close up the wonderful pressure we put on the Tigers.
Both our old blokes were terrific. Billy Longer gave us great drive from the middle . The captain led superbly.
Ben Long showed a bit, and put on good forward pressure. Worth persevering with, I think.
DMAc did struggle a bit, but at least he attacks the ball well.
Well done , lads !

Great team win tonight.
That fact that I am struggling to find a clear best on ground is brilliant.
I have been a Longer knocker for awhile now, but I have to say that I loved his energy at the contest tonight. He used his massive frame really well at times and also really started to throw himself at some contests.
I can't ask for any more that that. Go big fella.

Great win.
Shite last Quarter.
DMacs disposal by foot is the worst in the AFL
The dude has some work to do.

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Just got back from the game and my initial thought was where was Steele? He was really quiet tonight. Why? Because everyone lifted and we were attacking not defending and we were awesome. No faults tonight. Only praise. Well done guys. so Very proud

Re: Match Thread Saints v Tigers Round 16 2017
I agree with Ross. He was and has all year been just magnificent. Such a complete player.
Long had a great game. Everyone did. (With the exception perhaps of DMac, who made a few really glaring basic errors. His attack on the ball was good, but chest marks, kicks and handballs he should have made went amiss.)
I also think Geary deserves special mention. I think he had a 10/10 game, 100%. I don't think he lost a contest and was just magnificent. Really, a perfect game I would say.
Bloody hell we were dominant and ruthless and ferocious and skilled in the first half. It was just awesome. I was in awe. I couldn't believe the rampage. Just awesome, saints.

This may seem kinda harsh, but our best wins have been tonight and GWS, both games Mav didn't play. I feel like he ruins our balance and we tend to play better with only Bruce missing simple shots

It was a great win, but I just wished we had finished the game stronger, percentage is going to be so critical in such an even season. Plus hats off to Billy longer, by far the best game I have seen him play.
Think of me long enough to make a memory.

With the fantastic pressure in the first half they just ran out of legs.

Sometimes you can just tell they're on. And a few days before the game it was obvious. Wanted to post but gambling wise thought not. Some of you wont believe it, up to you. 6 day breaks help this group.

I think it was SMS who posted on another thread that he had spoken to a young player earlier in the week and he was confident. Whatever it is that has clicked, well it has clicked well. Re: Match Thread Saints v Tigers Round 16 2017
I watched a fair bit of the Dons and Pies game yesterday- no idea why. I was amazed at how bad the Magpies are- they were hopeless, it was not much of a workout for the Dons and I couldn't really say they were that good due a total lack of pressure. A real pity that Membrey will be rubbed out, so we will probably see Paddy back if cleared to play or maybe Hickey.

I wonder how much Rooey and Maddie's match had to do with it compared to us just clicking to win a game. I think 99% but time will tell. If we play as good next week then maybe we have clicked. Let's hope so anyway.tony74 wrote:Sometimes you can just tell they're on. And a few days before the game it was obvious. Wanted to post but gambling wise thought not. Shows how much the team respects roo - they really played for him imho. Doesn't matter why they were 'on' though - fact is, every player involved in that game will be able to draw on the feeling of that first half from now on. Bring on the Bombers!
