There appears to be a few repeat offenders (namely Gresham and Weller). Given their confidence (particularly Gresham's) is extremely low, perhaps despite their other attributes, they may need a spell VFL to rebuild their confidence. Savage started as a forward and is a beautiful kick - why not give him a go there?

Correct.

Our rubbish footy up forward is fine against shyte teams but will get us nowhere against quality sides.

If we want to be permanent Tiger9th we are doing it perfectly.

Why every club needs a goal kicking coach.
"every single club would do goal kicking training in some form,” he said.

“But goal kicking 10 minutes before and 20 minutes after training is not a proper program.

“There has to be the attention to detail to refine individual needs and the ability to revisit it time and time again throughout the year to guarantee consistency.”

Dixon said the results of a focused goal kicking program in conjunction with biomechanics expert David Rath was a significant factor in the Hawks’ golden premiership era.

“If training started at 9am, the players were out there having shots from 8am,” Dixon said.

“And not just having gimmick shots from the boundary line, I’m talking about practising and refining and repeating your routine over and over again from spots where you shouldn’t miss.

“So there was huge ownership from the players.

“Clarko had up on the whiteboard that goal kicking was one of the club’s three biggest marginal gains and they jumped up immediately from 16th to 6th in accuracy and look what happened.

“They won four premierships.”

Get Dixon out of Ch 7 and get him down to the club
asap ! Baroose, Skunk, Mav, Gresh, could all use his help and
we can stop kicking 14.19, and make it 19.14 instead !

But of course everything the club says is TRUE!
Both are wrong they exclude out of bounds.

This same thought has been playing on my mind since Sunday. Is the generally negative perception (as judged by the tone of this forum) of our overall performance this season failing to pay sufficient regard to our inaccuracy in front of goal as a principal factor?

Of course, simplistically, "bad kicking is bad football". However, some of the more strident criticism of coaches/recruiters/list/individual players suggesting that we need to sack/delist/rebuild looks a touch overwrought through the prism of missed shots.

It is not just the immediate goal that is being lost, it is also the scoreboard pressure that builds confidence and rewards our player's efforts while at the same time sapping the opposition.
IMO you are 100% correct, IF ... we can straighten up our kicking we would be dominating most games early , it's something that needs serious work. We also need to bury sides when we have them down like good clubs do

The idea that we need to just about sack half the players, coaches, recruiters etc is a little bit of overkill.

Roo has kicked 23 goals 32 at Subiaco for his career.

He might need to kick better than 41% for us to win this week.

Probably helps to explain our poor record there.

Just taking it one step at a time.

We are working incredibly hard to move up from third to second spot on the table.
Then we can focus firmly on grabbing the mantle as the most inaccurate side ever.

Does anyone have a record of the worst kicking on record?

Currently sitting at 171 goals and 202 points. Which equates to an astonishing 45.8% accuracy.
Glad they don't count the number that fell short or the players didn't have the balls to take the game on and back themselves. I can't remember a time where i saw more kicks at goal that didn't make the distance .... and i am not talking about shots from 50+ out.

I think we might have caught up to Gold Coast 2011 and moved into second place on the inaccuracy ladder.

With 6 rounds left we are a serious chance of grabbing top spot.
Just need a couple more insipid, spineless, pathetic efforts and the title is ours!

Billings needs to get on top of his kicking for goal. It's the only thing stopping him from being a genuine star of the game.

If Essendon had kicked straight early it would have been all over at quarter time.

Absolutely between the ears with JB. Also saw him shirk a contest and he just lacks the aggression needed in this game

The only thing that will help JB is if we get Dusty in October...and then Dusty takes Jb under his wing. I'm not talking about showing him how to fend off...I'm talking about showing him how to get off. JB spends a summer with Swanny, Dusty and a few lads and learns how to be a man, then he'll be ready to play like one. Grab life by the balls and get a bit of swagger about you boy

Give him the ball in play, Big C, and he relaxes and kicks the ball better than well.

Currently, give him a set shot, and he's stiff armed, waves the pill all over the joint, and rarely looks better than 50/50.

Oddly, elbows are designed to bend, and generally bend to relax and minimise potential error.

Taking another MASSIVE step today to claiming this title.

Four more weeks of INSIPID, INCOMPETENT, INEFFECTUAL kicking and the glory will be ours.
Well done to the Specialist coaches - those Jack Daniels training videos are working a treat.

Only team in the comp below 50% goal kicking accuracy. Not good enough.

So do you reckon our dumbass coaches could come up with the bright idea of spending an hour at training kicking at goal.
I know its simplistic but you never know it may work.

What an incredibly stupid suggestion!!!!

Have you never heard of OH&S?
We don't want our boys getting muscle strains practicing their kicking.

We don't pay them over $300,000 on average to waste their time risking training injuries.
Much better they spend their time eating nutritionist approved foods in front of white boards and video analyses.
