Re: Paddy Concussed
So whats the damage on Paddy?
Was he knocked out or was he conscious laying there with his eyes closed?
Any media release from the club?
Are we just being a tad bit overly cautious with him?
Seems to be a few sports physiologist/ head injury experts on here and plenty of hindsight draft experts as well

We rejected picks 4 (2 meter Pater.. we had him at 4 on our list) and 7 (we had Laverede there on our list) in order to keep pick 1 (we would have lost pick 21 going back)
That is madness... 2 early first rounders with a 2nd rounder going back is the top currency for established stars... yet we rejected the deal in order to take a punt on an untried youth. The fact that we also look to have messed up that selection is almost beside the point. Why would they not make that trade???
Just madness
The odds are always much much better to take two early first rounders than taking only 1!

Speaking of number 1 picks - David Swallow is the shittest number 1 pick in a decade. Absolutely useless player.

No no no. Wright has no physical presence and isn't a lead up forward. Dropped a couple of sitters today and only marked on smaller opponents.Con Gorozidis wrote:2 metre Peter > Paddy.

Johnny Member wrote:McCartin was easily the best choice. Easily.
Of course he was. Very confident he will fully justify the choice given reasonable time to develop.
He also needs to develop in regard to protecting himself, that will come with experience.
I am concerned though if he comes good, or horror horror has to pull the pin due to concussion issues, who are the negative nellies going to bag then?
They tried Billings for a couple of years, oops, also Acres for while, I guess Longer & Dunstan are still targets.
Perhaps a thread should be started for our top 2017 draft pick - don't know who he is yet, but let's get a head start and start bagging him!!

Re: Paddy Concussed
how many times do armchair critics on here want to make the same point? over and over again. why? paddy aint going anywhere. time will tell if he'll make it. this thread was about his injury and all the doomsayers used it as another excuse to troll the young man and the club. get over it.

Re: Paddy Concussed
If your opponents are smaller you have a better chance of marking.CURLY wrote:No no no. Wright has no physical presence and isn't a lead up forward. Dropped a couple of sitters today and only marked on smaller opponents.Con Gorozidis wrote:2 metre Peter > Paddy.
Meanwhile Paddy at 194cm is more often than not shorter than his opponent and is more easily spoiled.
Taking marks over shorter opponents is what you want a key forward to do.
That is why key position players need to be TALL, genuinely TALL not sort of tall, but not really tall.

So Peter Wright was not worthy of pick No 1 but yet he is better than Paddy.Johnny Member wrote:IrrelevantCon Gorozidis wrote:2 metre Peter > Paddy.

Time shows Paddy was even less worthy.
I used to mock Melbourne for taking the Brighton Grammar boy with good character, Jack Watts.
Sadly now I would accept it as a win if Paddy's career could equal that of Watts.

bulls***
He came back out after going off for the initial test and warmed up whilst waiting for the 20mins re-test with every intention of playing, he was running around the boundary
He then went back in and never returned

"The coach allayed fears about the number of concussions McCartin has had, with the latest his sixth since 2014. Three of those came in 2016, the last of which was in round 15.
"My understanding is, given that there's been such a gap between the last knock (and Saturday's concussion), there's no real issue there," Richardson said."
