But Hutchy suggests that it may not be for St Kilda!

Re: Roo Signs on
If either Rooey or Joey are signed on again for 2018 then St Kilda are not fair dinkum about winning their next flag. If they are allowed to sign on again I would immediately sack Trout and Bains.

Re: Roo Signs on
Roo and Joey need a farewell game this year.
They cannot go around again, this is crazy talk.
Age has caught up with them, club needs to look at the future.
Roo's knee is a week to week gamble.
Swap 2 picks for a big marking forward and move ahead.

Re: Roo Signs on
Ive been of the thinking that they should go down to playing 12-15 games a season. Just manage them and call them up when required. they are veterans and would have the capacity to be called up on a moments notice and perform. but youd be better off going play 3-4 games in a row then rest them. in total its 2 out of the 22 blokes picked each week. or just play them in stretches of the easier games and save them from interstate travel. i dunno im just spitballing but having followed the nba very closely for a while now resting is key. Especially with roo id be trying to squeeze 1 more year of mentorship out of him purely for the benefit of our young KPPs. Hes one of the 3 best forwards of the last 20 years, so i dont think you can hang him out to dry considering how much hes done for the club.WellardSaint wrote:Roo and Joey need a farewell game this year.

Nice one Kosi !kosifantutti wrote:Bazzabreen66 always makes a good point.
I am sure that Roo would realise a move to another club would just place a sad asterisk on a stellar one club career , as with Dougie Hawkins and Peter McKenna. Even if he snagged a flag in a one-and -done arrangement, I doubt that would sit right with him. If he goes on, he does so as a Saint.

Re: Roo Signs on
Roo big had the chance to jump ship like 5 years ago to get a flag, but he stuck with us, doubt he would leave with us on the cusp of finals

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Joey has to go Roo should and will get another year. Ridiculous to suggest Roo should move on.Wayne42 wrote:Delays our progression for another year.citywest wrote:If either Rooey or Joey are signed on again for 2018 then St Kilda are not fair dinkum about winning their next flag. It's not ridiculous Moe, neither of them will be in our next Premiership team, we need to move on, so do you, if you can.CURLY wrote:Joey has to go Roo should and will get another year. Re: Roo Signs on
If we sneak into the 8 this year or next year the finals experience of Roo, Joey and Gilbert will be indispensable.
They are all still amongst our best performers on the field.
Then their is their leadership and mentoring both on and off the field.
Let clubs like Norf sack their legends.
Let the Saints treat them with the respect they deserve.

Re: Roo Signs on
We will aleady have more than enough space on the list after delisting those whose footy isn't up to AFL standard. We don't need to delist two of our better players in order to get 2 speculative draft selections in the 100's. As usual citywest, banal masochistic troll, manages to invest every debate with pointless negativity.

Re: Roo Signs on
For my money, the idea put forward by wombat15 has a lot of merit. Montagna, Gilbert and Riewoldt can provide important leadership during this transitional period. Perhaps rest the guys for interstate games, while keeping them in the travelling group for their experience and leadership?
St Kilda forever ( God help me)

Re: Roo Signs on
Still better than most sides best forward and 100% better than any side secon key forward target. Even if he drops off 20% that still remains correct.Wayne42 wrote:It's not ridiculous Moe, neither of them will be in our next Premiership team, we need to move on, so do you, if you can.CURLY wrote:Joey has to go Roo should and will get another year. Was it Stonecold who said either roo or joey had to go? Who ever it was I tend to agree - as much at that pains me.
My sister has been madly in love with Joey since forever.. so Im a little fond of him as well due to her affections.
Quite right about the benefits of having them both around should we find ourselves in finals next year.
what a predicament!
