Who gets dropped for Man Of?

We all know it was a mistake dropping Steele. I assume Lonie goes out for him, or maybe Mav??

The free kick Lonie 'milked' from the umpires annoyed me.
I detest it when opposition players do it and I don't like it when our players do it.

I'm not sure he has the physical attributes to successfully play the role he's currently playing (small forward) for us - his tackling pressure doesn't seem 'strong enough' to actually stop an opposition player. He seems to try hard enough just doesn't seem to 'stick tackles' and if he's not kicking 2-3 goals a week then his 'forward pressure' needs to be spot on to retain his place 9imho0

Steele is basically an on-baller. He is not much of a forward; Richardson likes his structure at the moment, the balance of key forwards to small forwards, inside midfielders to outside midfielders etc, so I dont think he'll put another inside midfielder in for a small forward. I think this is also why Weller hasn't been dropped yet - we don't really have a replacement.

I think it's Steele or Dunstan. I prefer Steele but Dunstan played alright this week. Started well, faded though. Not sure he'll be dropped. Maybe Koby Stevens will get a rest.

I would like to see Minchington instead of Lonie. I'm a big meatball fan.

Bailey Rice is close to selection. I wonder who makes room for him?

We know Steele has a strong defensive game, but I think he needs a lot of work on his attacking side. Lonie is a bit more balanced but not as strong obviously. I was disappointed with Mav and can't see how he can hold his place with ordinary performances.

Acres is lucky to hold his spot, thought that was Gresham best game for a while
watching Mav closely at the game, he does lots of hard bullocking off the ball and can hold a tackle.
We have too many in there at the moment that can't stick tackles.
Stevens and mav hold their spots because of this.
Or Steele comes in for one of them.

Most forumites would agree that is a top 22 player, but I certainly don't think it was a mistake dropping him after that performance vs Adelaide. He had an absolute STINKER.

Ppl need to get over this idea that going back to Sandy for a week or two to regain form is a horrible incident that is a blight on your career and means that you're destined for the scrap heap

Well, as I've posted often enough, I'd prefer to see him come in for Lonie, with one or both of Gresham and Sinclair playing further forward more consistently.

On the other hand, bar injury, there isn't a desperately strong case for changing a winning combination. Dunstan and Lonie both went ok.

Don't want to move Sinclair he has really blossomed on the wing this year and with him and Newness it provides good options on either side.

Lonie was disappointing, especially considering his skills were something that was rated, missed an absolute sitter. Interesting as neither him or Minchington can grab that small forward type role . Cant play both but at moment there is an argument neither has grabbed a chance and perhaps shouldnt be there. Perhaps look to reinvent Savage as a small forward?

They're all similar types. In and under and not much outside. I'd like to see Acres or Gresham in there more often for variety's sake.

McCartin is the future and must be played

What this does is push Roo to an around the ground presence and it pushes Membrey to a different role, then pushing Weller to a different role - then the "smalls" being Gresham and Sinclair also rotating up the ground

But only if that in is for Lonie at Sandy.
Lonie played in Sandy's last game because Sandy did not play last weekend.
McCartin may be the future but at the moment he is Cr@p.

I used to laugh at Melbourne for taking Jack Watts at No1.

Agree. He's a natural for that role and the club may be doing itself a disservice by consigning him to the flanks. He's one of our best young players and should be where the ball is. Steele, Dunstan, Steven. All good solid players, but don't offer much flair. Put him in the guts with Steven, Ross and either Steele or Dunstan. See if one of them can play as a flanker.

Maybe not yet, but he will. Don't forget how few games he has played. He a stocky little bugger and very nimble. I think it would be another big mistake by the club to pigeon-hole him as a small forward. A big mistake.
