Re: Get the pitchforks ready! OUT Steele, IN Dunstan
I dislike Richo.
I am not a fan of Dunstan the way Muslims aren't fans of pork and alcohol.
Dunstan is slow. Dunstan is a liability. Dunstan can be good in the VFL but he's playing against
blokes who work full-time as bricklayers and carpenters, so it's pretty much one step above amateur footy.
Steele should not be dropped just because Richo is his godfather and he promised his parents
he would look after Dunstan.
Koby got 18, Steele got 15- not much there
Koby gave away 6 FREES, Steele gave away ONE
(to Sloane- soft free that Stuv should get 8 times per game but never does)
so why not drop Koby.
Koby- 18 disposals, minus his 6 frees conceded, means net disposals of 12.
Hardly a nice return IMHO
"Oh, but he kept Sloane quiet!"

Koby had a great game against Adelaide: he did a terrific job on Sloane and also got a fair bit of the ball.
Steele had his worst game for the club against the Crows. He not only didn't get much of the ball, he also didn't feature in the expected number of contests (which is reflected in his tackle count). I wouldn't have dropped him after just one poor game, but I expect that the coach has a much better idea than me about how any particular player is going in the role they have been given.
As for Dunstan: I must be one of the few posters on here who rates him (likewise with Weller). In the games which he's been left out and in which Wright or Minchington have been played, I reckon we'd have gone better with Dunstan. I'd rate Steele ahead of him, but not by a country mile. I don't know his stats for sprints, etc., but Dunstan hasn't looked especially slow to me. His problem seems more to be a lack of stamina, which is not unusual with young players and is capable of being fixed.

Why? Is it because he's good enough to play AFL, or simply because you haven't seen him yet?Joe Bloggs wrote:Come on down Bailey Rice.

This says a bit about your mind-set, that you will hate on a young player religiously, regardless of their performance.WellardSaint wrote: I am not a fan of Dunstan the way Muslims aren't fans of pork and alcohol.
I thought you were going to return your membership and give the saints away if Gilbert kept playing?

If this is true, than it could not purely be an overall form issue. I would suggest that Steele is getting rested or he has been failing in an aspect of his game.

Re: Get the pitchforks ready! OUT Steele, IN Dunstan
Steele has apparently had a bit of a niggle and has looked a bit tired last couple of games. Had a short pre season, so although "dropped", a rest might do him good.
With Dunstan replacing him we won't lose much, may even be a plus if he gets back to his best. I rate Dunstan.
Looks like Lonie in also, don't know about that, would rather give NOK a go.

Well if Sandy are not playing he will being rested by default.Beno88 wrote:Has to be something more to this. Steele would be top 6 in the B&F right now.
Wouldn't surprise me if he's being rested, especially given Sandy don't play this weekend.
But considering he had a bye only 1 game back I would strongly doubt he needs a rest again now unless he copped an injury against the Crows.

Re: Get the pitchforks ready! OUT Steele, IN Dunstan
Did anyone read the whole story?
There are a few others: Paddy has a knock to the knee and will miss one; Carlisle is a last minute fitness test but Brown is fit; Wright has a shoulder injury and Hugh Goddard may be out for the season!
Lonie tipped to replace Wright and Rice to come in if Carlisle doesn't get up.

The best play of the night will be the run through the banner
and it will be all downhill from there, sadly.
Frees 26-12 in Norf's favour

Re: Get the pitchforks ready! OUT Steele, IN Dunstan
I think we miss Armo more than we realise. He's a general in the midfield and an inside beast when in form. Dunstan, Steele, Stevens, et al. all have their merits, but all things being equal, at this stage, Armo is still the best of that bunch. I expect that bunch will go past him in the near future, but I'm disappointed that Armo has had so many injury problems after setting up with a great preseason. Along with Hickey being nowhere near last year's output, and spending time on the sidelines and Sandy, I reckon we're two down in the midfield right from the get go. Just my theory.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

The midfield just didn't get the ball into the forward line enough against the Crows- it's one thing getting a lot of tackles, but our guys need to be first to the ball and actually do something with it!

I love the Saints, but the way it's being run at the moment, they couldn't organise a sausage sizzle at Bunnings.

Who cares, is anyone seriously happy with Carlisle's performances thus far?longtimesaint wrote:The biggest problem will be if Carlisle is not fit who plays centre half-back?
North have tall marking forwards.
Last week was 100% crap, trailing 5m off opponent every time, way too easy.
