Get the pitchforks ready! OUT Steele, IN Dunstan
One poor game from Steele and he gets cut..
Anyone remember how poor Dunstan was for a period old 4-5 weeks?
Interesting Richo.

Torches as well. Storm Seaford!
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Steele was very ordinary last week, but so were about 18 others.
Steele leading the club in tackles (8th overall)
Averaging 7.2 a game
Second behind Ross for contested possessions
Third behind Ross & Steven for clearances & centre clearances
Big, big call to drop him.

Can we not storm Seaford til after 6pm - I need to get home on the pen link and its already congested.
Ive really enjoyed watching his games this year - his bordering on a new fave for me. So im a little disappointed by this.

The positive would be that we realise playing both doesn't work. The negative would be choosing the wrong one. Steele is ahead of Dunstan without question. Not by heaps but by enough to be beyond question.
Still, this position is not our biggest problem. We seriously need players who start taking risks again and players who offer us avenues to goal

no? i remember two poor games before he was dropped. the game before that he was in the coaches votes. when he came back he was okay, but was only in as a replacement for stevens who was in very good form.The_President wrote:One poor game from Steele and he gets cut..

good to see him back in - we've missed his contest at the ball. not sure about Steele being the one to miss though.

I like him, but I don't mind him being dropped after a terrible game… It seems a little strange, but then Acres gets dropped after playing well so who knows what is going on.
Who else are they bringing in?

The biggest problem will be if Carlisle is not fit who plays centre half-back?
North have tall marking forwards.

More concerned about Paddy being (managed) to get Riewoldt in. If he's genuinely injured that's fine, if not it's a worry. The kid needs continuity and game time.

If that is your measure then Steele has also been bad in 9 out of his 11 games.The_President wrote: Dunstan's disposals this year

disagree - bad in 2-3, very good in one, good in a couple, okay in the other.The_President wrote:desertsaint wrote:no? i remember two poor games before he was dropped. the game before that he was in the coaches votes. when he came back he was okay, but was only in as a replacement for stevens who was in very good form.The_President wrote:One poor game from Steele and he gets cut..

his game is a lot more than getting possessions. his biggest critics are those that just look at that. his efficiency is fine compared to the other mids, he ties up a lot of the ball for us, and does the heavy duty work inside. i'd like him to be better than he has been this year, but he has not been near as bad as some say. more importantly, he is young with a good head and is leadership material, definitely one we'd like to develop.

Think you'll find that members was in line to be dropped for Riewoldt before Paddy was ruled out

Re: Get the pitchforks ready! OUT Steele, IN Dunstan
Firstly, I think this is a good move as a lack of preseason looked to have caught up abit with Steele last Friday therefore a weekend off to freshen him up will only be a good thing for him IMO.
Secondly, if you want to do stats Let's look at Dunstan Vs Steele in the stats department for this year.
Steele
GM K HB D M G B T HO FF FA AF * SC *
Total 11 74 157 231 46 2 3 79 0 9 11 981 974
Average 11 6.7 14.3 21.0 4.2 0.2 0.3 7.2 0 0.8 1.0 89.2 88.5
Dunstan
GM K HB D M G B T HO FF FA AF * SC *
Total 7 57 73 130 28 4 3 26 0 5 8 513 542
Average 7 8.1 10.4 18.6 4.0 0.6 0.4 3.7 0 0.7 1.1 73.3 77.4
As you can see there is not much difference except for Steele makes more tackles.

Reading the report it sounds very, very minor. More of a niggle.dragit wrote:He couldn't complete training.bigcarl wrote:More concerned about Paddy being (managed) to get Riewoldt in. If he's genuinely injured that's fine, if not it's a worry. The kid needs continuity and game time.

Re: Get the pitchforks ready! OUT Steele, IN Dunstan
Has to be something more to this. Steele would be top 6 in the B&F right now.
Wouldn't surprise me if he's being rested, especially given Sandy don't play this weekend.

Re: Get the pitchforks ready! OUT Steele, IN Dunstan
Tend to agree...I've not been happy with the way Steele torches the ball coming into attack, but geez, he's hardly an orphan there! There's far more upside to his game than that, and I thought they played him as a tagger for half of last week (not having seen the game, sorry), which he did quite well at? I don't think the puzzle is why Dunstan as to why Steele. There's another spot up for grabs at least, will be interesting to see who comes in. Are we moving the chess pieces to bring in a small forward line? Meatball again? Lonie?Beno88 wrote:Has to be something more to this. Steele would be top 6 in the B&F right now.

Re: Get the pitchforks ready! OUT Steele, IN Dunstan
This would make sense, but then why tell the media he's been dropped? It's hardly going to boost his confidence.Beno88 wrote:Has to be something more to this. Steele would be top 6 in the B&F right now.

I would have preferred simply Dunstan for Wright and Riewoldt for McCartin. However, as Steele appears to have been dropped, I guess we're going to see either Minchington or Lonie again. Although, who knows, perhaps Richo will surprise us with a Savage or a DMac: I'd honestly prefer either of them.
