Petracca was a match winner today.
Think of me long enough to make a memory.

Re: Judd sinks the boots into saints...
The majority of us on here thought it was a mistake at the time.
That is what is so disappointing.
Such a quintessentially St Kilda move.
No, that's too obvious to take the universally lauded Judd like midfielder....lets take a chance on the stay at home full forward with a tidy bedroom.

Nee!
Re: Judd sinks the boots into saints...
Trout fell into the trap of recruiting on a needs basis. Riewoldt is near the end so we just have to grab Paddy. There are times when that strategy may have merit but not when it involves the Number 1 pick in the draft. I'm not slagging Paddy. I'm slagging Trout who should now be shown the door.

Christian Petracca inspires Melbourne to Queen’s Birthday win over Collingwood at MCG
Here you go SRs
The raging bull intercepted a Taylor Adams sideways kick at half-forward and found Jeff Garlett open in the goalsquare.
Minutes later, Petracca won a contested ball abut 70m from goal, ran into space and unloaded from 55m.
Dual Brownlow Medallist Chris Judd says Petracca’s acceleration is elite and the Demons couldn’t believe their luck when St Kilda left Petracca for them by taking Paddy McCartin at No.1 in 2014.

Juddy is morally bankrupt.
Is he still working part time at Visy - what a dirty salary cap scam that was!
I guess he now makes his money flogging gambling products to loser f'wits with no willpower.

What would've interesting to know is that had we picked up The Tractor with pick 1 would Paddy have gone with pick 2, and if not, what pick?

Re: Judd sinks the boots into saints...
Petracca is a good player, better forward than mid field. Buckley did not really put a good defender matchup on him when he went forward today.
IMO he is nothing special & certainly not a dangerfield or ablett, never will be near it.
Proficient midfielders are everywhere, but good target forwards are very hard to find, and Paddy will be one.
Absolutely the right decision to draft Paddy.

Petracca's 18 disposals and 3 goals against a bottom 8 side is unprecedented in the history of Football - we absolutely stuffed up

Re: Judd sinks the boots into saints...
Surely this question remains an open question?
I don't think it will be fully decided for another 24 months.
Not sure how anyone can make any call on this with certainty. Anyone claiming they are 100% certain of the outcome is full of it.

Hey takeaway, see the part of your comment above that I have highlighted in red? Ask any Statement Analysis expert what they think and you know what they will say? You are "Fearing" that he will be as good as Dangerfield and Ablett but you are "Hoping" that he won't be.takeaway wrote:Petracca is a good player, better forward than mid field. I think someone with half a brain hacked into your account. Not saying I fully agree about getting rid of Trout, just saying your posts in this thread make sense

Re: Judd sinks the boots into saints...
It was a pragmatic decision to draft Paddy. Why is this debate still going?
Anyway, a lot of luck comes into drafting an out and out champion. Plenty of other number 1 picks didn't live up the expectation. That said, Paddy still has his entire career in front of him. Let's still hang in there for him.

Also, Petracca's impression of Gene Simmons sticking his tongue out in celebration of kicking a goal annoys me.

Re: Judd sinks the boots into saints...
Anyway luck is getting Pick 1 in a STRONG year.
Looking at the talent now the draft pool at the top is not strong and at the end of their careers I doubt that either Petracca or Paddy will be superstars.

Re: Judd sinks the boots into saints...
I think it was fairly obvious then and is fairly obvious now?!
Thank god he did a knee, imagine if he was 20 games further advanced!!!
Those spraining about the importance of a forward outweighing a mid
Ablett, Judd , Danger, Selwood, Martin, Mitchell, Watson, Fyfe, Swan, Black, Hayes, Bartel, Hodge, Pendlebury, Kennedy,
All out and out champions of the last decade
Only Reiwoldt and Franklin get near that list as a key forward!
2 Forwards 15 kids who are champs... add Rance as a back and some others (like Betts/Enright) before you get to average KPFs
Hawkins, Jack R, Kennedy, Walker they would only sit a group that included
Cotchin, Steven, Boak, Parker, Rockliff, Sloane, Lewis etc... great players... not champions
Where will Paddy get to?
