Re: Changes v Dogs
I'll get shot down but Joey needs to be managed, probably should've been retired last year so kids like Rice, White an Mckenzie could get valuable game time.

Re: Changes v Dogs
Weller has to be dropped, his form this year has been shocking, doesn't look anything like the crash and bash HF that he did last year. Cant kick 0.3, be in the leadership team, provide little around the ground and get a game the next week.
In
Bruce, Wright (bring in workhorse wright. Hes scrappy and kicks goals out of nothing and we have really missed his pace up forward).
Out
Weller, Newnes (give him a couple of weeks off from the concussion and shoulder knock.

Re: Changes v Dogs
If you started dropping players on last week's very ordinary effort, you would drop Gresham, Membrey, McCartin, Weller, Sinclair, Geary and Longer - no questions asked.
So why stop at 3?
And who are those 3?
Last week we had 22 playing 15 (allowing for Newnes), and, as the match wore on THAT delivered the result.
We just had too many who did not or could not impact against a very strong Sydney side.
If they can not impact this week against another formidable opponent, then we draw a line - but not back to Minchington, Lonie et al who are consistently found not to be up to standard.
We aspire to building a premiership side, not a middle ranking side of GOP's which can not cut the mustard against class competition such as Sydney.

Re: Changes v Dogs
Clutching at straws if we bring Bruce back in... he was dropped to regain form but only manages one goal while his opponent was BOG...
I think we need minchs forward pressure.
Minch for Weller
Savage for newnes (if he doesnt come up)

It's par for the course for poor Nathan isn't it ? He either busts some of his bones and has the odd concussion each season. Guess it's that fearless kamikaze manner in which he plays.Wombat15 wrote:Apologies I did not know that.
I hope when he's fit he's back in the senior team again. His attack on the the ball, his defensive run down tackling, and his ability to sneak improbable goals I think have been missed. He sure makes his opposing backman look over their shoulder, also they don't run off him that much. He's pretty good at corralling.

What is this love for players who at the very best are good VFL footballers?

I Love the way he plays, but sadly his body doesn't. Will be lucky to make it to 26 and still be able to play at the highest level. Apparently he's alright for selection this week, so I would hope that he comes in for Wellerloris wrote:It's par for the course for poor Nathan isn't it ? Re: Changes v Dogs
I'd be disappointed if Rice isn't an "in" this week - he's reasonably quick, has an AFL-ready body, is tough, reads the play well and can kick the ball.
He ticks too many boxes every week at VFL level - for him to be serially overlooked.
Savage should be an automatic in - we need his run and carry and rebound.
And Pierce for Longer! Another 10 possessions around the ground and an extra 5 or 6 marks would be handy.

Re: Changes v Dogs
I was at training last Monday, Bruce stayed on the ground quite some time after everyone else had left, practicing marking. kicking for goal and field kicking, so he's trying to turn it around and putting in the extra work.bigcarl wrote:saintsRrising wrote:bigcarl wrote:Thing about Bruce is that he wasn't really dropped for poor form.
From what I saw it was poor form as his marking had declined as was his total disposal count.
His last 2 games in total only added up to 5 marks and 14 disposals.
Yes he was working hard, but he was off his game which equals poor form.
One thing I would say about Bruce, regardless of his total disposals, marks and goals, is that structurally he is very important. You are guaranteed a physical contest in which he will most likely not be outmarked and will bring the ball to ground. He has a huge tank so he can do this all day.
The whole team seemed to be practicing bringing the ball to ground rather than marking, well if not all a good percentage, So expecting our smalls to have a greater impact,
Apart from that there was the usual training drills which Seb seemed find it a great time to chat Relaxed I guess.

Probably BS.
Teams released always on Thursday. Exception for Thursday night games which are released Wednesday.

Out: Roo (rested), Weller (ankle) & maybe 8cres (he had a sore hamstring late in the game last week)
In: Bruce, Wright & Savage (if 8cres or Newnes is out)

Re: Changes v Dogs
Coxy's injury report suggested Wrighty is unlikely; hasn't come up as well as Newnes on the concussion front.
Given how many of them are "test" for training tomorrow I am anticipating more than one out.
