This team won't win us our 2nd flag, back to the drawing board for Trout and his cohorts.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

That is is really humiliating part... I could handle losing to them in Sydney but not down here.
I think people lost perspective when they tried to convince themselves Carlton are a good side after last week. Carlton are truly s***-house. Tony was having a lend of us.

So we concede when we play better teams?
Sydney are not a top 4 team, they have flogged us
It was a terrible effort, not a positive from where I sat

Re: Perspective.
I see it as a missed opportunity to cement ourselves but a massive opportunity to learn where we need to get to and be. Perhaps the loss we had to have as all this talk of being contenders is premature unless we learn and move on from these matches.

Re: Perspective.
Gees I hate naming players, but McKenzie and Dunstan turned it over all day. In their defence, no one ran for them. Shocking performance.

We don't have the list to contend, unfortunately, we need to recruit A grade AFL players, whoever they are.Captain Impossible wrote:Gees I hate naming players, but McKenzie and Dunstan turned it over all day. In their defence, no one ran for them. Shocking performance.
The TAC cup is the main feeder for the AFL, unfortunately, it's almost impossible to predict how those players will perform at AFL level, regardless of what pick they are drafted at.
Probably why, when drafting players, clubs look at youth and experienced players.

We have 1 genuine a graders. Reiwoldt.
We have 1 geniune a grade yougster. Gresham.
Reat are B and C. We'll make finals but never really threaten. Good effort we were screwed in 2013. Worse than fitzroy 96

Re: Perspective.
Swans lost their first 6 matches and this was a back-to-back trip to Melbourne, coming off a 6 day break no less.
Saints on the other hand were coming off a 7 day break and haven't left Melbourne for 3 weeks, and we got flogged.
Swans aren't a top 4 team IMO. So in my perspective, a very bad loss.
But, hopefully this is another one of those reality checks we need to have.

did you watch the game? dunstan had our third best disposal efficiency today (85%) D-Mac started poorly but improved (75%).Captain Impossible wrote:Gees I hate naming players, but McKenzie and Dunstan turned it over all day. In their defence, no one ran for them. Shocking performance.
Billings, Acres, and Sinclair - all outside mids had under 70%.

Yes theyre top 4. They were 2016 minor premiers easily and have had number 1 picks 2014/2015/2016SydneySainter wrote:Swans lost their first 6 matches and this was a back-to-back trip to Melbourne, coming off a 6 day break no less.

Swans are 3-6 in an 18 team. Swans have a better chance of winning the spoon than being top 4.ChrisRyanSaints wrote:Yes theyre top 4. Also, Saints had the 1st pick in 2014, Carlton in 2015 and Essendon in 2016. I'm not sure which number 1 picks you were referring to.

Re: Perspective.
It's not that we lost, or even by how much, but why.
We were totally impotent forward of the ball.
Almost every kick inside 50 was either a bomb it n hope, or missed a target.
Beaten structurally, around the ground and around the ball.
Smashed on the spread.
Very worrying. We got away with it against the blues, but that was the blues.
Against good teams, we're easy to defend.
We defend really well, midfield pressure and contest is pretty good, but our forwards and how we move it to them are easy to defend. Worrying.
As a side note, we're really bad at kick-ins. I don't have the stats but I'm sure we basically never score from a kick-in and concede regularly from the opposition's.
