Joey to weigh up retirement during bye

Not much of a story there, but discuss.
In some ways it's good that he is no longer as clearly in our best every week - the youngsters are stepping up. I will miss his cool head and smart decision making though.

Let him "weigh it up" during the Bye. THEN decide to give it everything to go out a WINNER!

still going ok... it would be tempting to try for the 300 club by playing on one more yearthejiggingsaint wrote:Let him "weigh it up" during the Bye. THEN decide to give it everything to go out a WINNER!
Been a great servent of the club.
Personally I think it could be time. would be playing as a 34 year old next year. there are 11 players this year playing as 34 years olds and some are still going well.. On the other hand a few a clearly slowing down as are several in the 32-33 age range

Re: Joey to weigh up retirement during bye
I like the idea of him and Roo retiring in different years - it's a lot of experience to lose in one hit. If it means we need to encourage one to go perhaps a year early, then so be it for the good of the team.
Joey would be easier to encourage I think, mostly because there are young guys waiting in the wings to play across half back ( White, Rice, McKenzie, even Savage who is a level above VFL).

He's playing super well...
Ball, Clarke, Dal Santo... who'd have thought he'd outlast them all

Clearly in our best 22 this year and next.
Hope he plays on and plays more finals footy.

What a nothing story!
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Joey needs to retire so Rice can play every week. Rooey neds to retire so McCartin can play every week. Gilbert needs to retire so Goddard can play every week....Simple as that.

Re: Joey to weigh up retirement during bye
A burgeoning career in the media awaits, along with family business interests. Joel has plenty on his plate, post football. Personally, while he's till playing well, I'm happy to see him go on. How I'd love to see him and Roo go out with a flag! Experience is invaluable in September. He also seems to be in good shape and is covering the ground well. Still an important player for our structure.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!
