Regardless of the sledge the unacceptable part is remonstrating with a player who looks seriously injured.

What is not in dispute, is that Murphy either spat on or abused Jake.
From our guys' reactions, it must have been pretty damn bad.

Unbelievably, this has somehow been turned into an incident in which the saints are in the wrong. According to the halfwit rumourmonger, Barrett, it was all about the saints players mercilessly sledging Murphy until he snapped. He was supposedly so distressed after the game that "people who knew him had never seen him so disturbed." No mention of why Carlisle was laying on the ground clutching his orchestra stalls, when Murphy either sledged, or worse still, allegedly spat on him. Usual Barrett standard. No facts, just lots of unnamed sources, made up speculation and an inability to get the real story. And his idiot friend, Gaddy Lyon, calls him, "The best in the business". Well, he would say that. He gets paid to say it. In this so-called industry, maybe he is. They set the bar very low for the AFL media.

That first paragraph is disgraceful.
The "sledging" is stated quite blatantly as fact rather than speculation or allegation.

We were at the game and my wife swears Carlisle helped Cripps up off the ground at some stage.
I didn't see it and don't have access to a replay of the game.
Would be interesting though.... Quite a different attitude to sportsmanship than Mr Murphy.

Murphy is a bigger tosser than I thought, he has effectively broadcast to the country that a certain someone has been bonking his Mrs.

.....Murphy deliberately runs up to the fallen Carslile and either says something unsavory, or possibly spits at the fallen Carslile....

......Geary chases Murphy and remonstrates with him.....

.....an all in brawl follows....

.....at the end of the game Murphy is upset....they lost...his wife's morality was questioned.....he reacted poorly...

...on Sunday the Carlton media relations department does their thing....Paul Roos....Barret...etc get involved....call for St Kilda to be penalised...

But really is there any, and I mean any, evidence to really suggest that he did?

I have only seen wild speculation probably generated by Murphy's body action in the way he stooped down. But that was more likely just so he could make comment to Carlisle without having to yell it.

Personally I very much doubt that he spat.

No mention of what as said though, only a reference to the Hawks Mitchell getting sanctioned by the AFL for his needle gib to the drugcheats last year.
