Carslile incident
Any idea what happened?
Was at the game and saw Carslile motionless on the ground. The pay continued at carlton goaled.
Then Murphy appeared to run to Carslile, I thought he was just checking that he was OK, but Geary took objection and attacked Murphy and set of an all-in brawl.
It would be good to understand what happened.

Re: Carslile incident
Jake went down in a pack crash. Murphy, in a rather unsporting gesture, ran past and gave Jake an earful whilst he was on the ground and in pain. The rest, led by our captain was reaction to that.

He's a goose...
Carlton had all the run and was on top until Murphy's pointless gesture gave Geary an excuse to slow play down.
Pbly cost them the match

spit or not,
any player that's in pain and being tended by trainer(s), is off limits.
If MRP does nothing, the AFL is a crock.
Mouthing off, spitting, either action is not on if a guy is in the care of trainers

Re: Carslile incident
I reckon it was worse than that. Because the game was still going around him my memory is that the trainer hadn't even gotten to him yet. I had my binoculars on Jake (not the bloody goal over his head) because he had not moved for what seemed like ages. Everyone sitting around me heard a crack.WellardSaint wrote:spit or not,

Then Murphy swans past and bends down. I actually thought he was going to see if he was ok. Carlisle not having moved and all ...
Then Gears broke a land speed record to take him out.
Had hoped I was wrong about what he did (notwithstanding some very enthusiastic booing for the rest of the afternoon), but the reviews here and elsewhere suggest otherwise. Am looking forward to seeing the replay (and booing all over again, if warranted)

I agree. And Murphy should be the subject of an enormous social shaming.WellardSaint wrote:spit or not,

Call it out! What a twerp
Re: Carslile incident
Weak dog act, reminiscent of the Scott Bros on Roo all those years ago, to sledge an player who is clearly in pain or distress isn't a great look. I think Marc will be fairly embarrassed by his actions, a great player but not one of his finer moments. Great to see the team rally around Carlisle and not let it go without expressing their collective disgust. There was certainly a lot of verbal agro between opposing supporters where I was sitting. I noticed Geary and Montagna had a talk with Murphy after the game and I don't believe Jake shook his hand.

What a gutless POS marc is…
From 28 touches today, 4 were contested and zero clearances, but he managed to sledge a player who was basically knocked unconscious…
What a skipper, perfect for the blues really.

Re: Carslile incident
Play had gone on and Carlisle was prone on the ground not moving. After a period a Carlton player ran some metres to Carlisle, bent over him and gave every appearance of spitting on the prone Carlisle including by his jerking head movement aimed at Carlisle which is consistent with spitting
It was off the ball and the reason I remained focussed on Carlisle was because he was crumpled on the ground and not moving
Thankfully he came back on
And played a fine game
My expectation was that the Carlton player would gesture with a hand in checking on Carlisle's well bring - but no
His head jerked as happens when you spit with force whilst he was leaning over Carlisle

All those thing he wanted to tell Jake...better wait until he can't move. What a coward.
*Allegedly.

Jake returned to the play thankfully
Just Glad Jake got the go-ahead to return to the field of play.
I've been enjoying Carlilse since the season began.
I'm hoping Jake plays all 22 & then some.
Hope you are Ok big fella.
Loving the Jake work on game day.

Re: Carslile incident
I think that Murphy avoided Carlisle after the game. I think he knew he had crossed the line. The fact that Geary and joey had a crack at him 30 mins later after the game shows the level of disgust with the act. Bad look for a good player. Straight to the tribunal I would think

Murphy has always been a turd. Even looks like one.
Can't stand the little deadshit. Hope the AFL deals with him.

Re: Carslile incident
I am disappointed we let Alex Silvagni play the tough guy all day.
He was roughing us up all day and noone did a thing about it. He pushed Acres in the face two metres over the boundary and noone stood up to him.
Disappointing. Someone should have nailed him.

Re: Carslile incident
Bolton seems to be trying to get bring some of that Hawks unsociable side to the blues. GResham copped a bit when he was on the ground after getting pinged and the blues defenders in particular tried a lot of niggle and verbal.

Re: Carslile incident
It wasn't televised where I am, so I had to rely on the radio. Triple M said Murphy didn't want anything to do with St Kilda players after the game, shaking only two of their hands. So he yells at someone lying on the ground, then won't man up and shake hands with opponents after the game.
