Re: Saints v blues match thread
Once again we decide that bombing it into a contest is the way to go. Mav needed to draw the player and then let Jack run it in. What a terrible decision. Time after time we just give it up bombing it in to the fwd 50.

I'm more critical of our more established players rather than putting blame on guys like Gresh, Sinclair or other kidsThe Fireman wrote:oh that's how it worksskeptic wrote:The Fireman wrote:4 other players aswell and some with not many more.....so lets out them all ?skeptic wrote:5 disposals to half time Firey

Umpire players have to make some attempt to go the ball in a marking contest time after time Carlton players just go the man allowing uncontested marks.

ground out a win. Carlton gave a good account of themselves - no easybeats.

Re: Saints v blues match thread
ok who do we single out for our poor performance against a very good side on the day. it seems to be a habit here to blame individual players when in reality they are playing their normal game but are being beaten by a better player on the day.
Carlton played very well .. come on knockers let's here it.

Weller. Manic man Wright shouldn't have been dropped for him in the first placeThe Fireman wrote:ok who do we single out for our poor performance against a very good side on the day. it seems to be a habit here to blame individual players when in reality they are playing their normal game but are being beaten by a better player on the day.

Weller only had 5 touches to half time.
Poor kicking, poor decision making.
I would add Minch, who didn't seem to be in danger of getting a kick at all.

Yep he had an absolute howler Weller to back up a below average season so far.WellardSaint wrote:+1jonesy wrote:Weller. I didn't think Minchington was that bad, thought he was better than Gresham who seems to be show boating too much.
Some sore boys after that, hopefully we come out of it ok

I was watching from level 3 so can't say for sure if it was just a sledge, spit (apparently people on Twitter saying this?), or a bit of a rough up as he ran past a motionless Carlisle who just copped a knee in the head before the goal. Terrible look for the game no matter what (especially from a captain), hope AFL slings him a fine at least.dragit wrote:What did he do I missed that?shrodes wrote:I hope we smash Murphy this quarter. Disgraceful behaviour.
It sparked a melee as Gears saw him do it and flew the flag with others joining in

I'm happy to talk about players that didn't have a good day, as well as the player that were good. The Fireman wrote:ok who do we single out for our poor performance against a very good side on the day. it seems to be a habit here to blame individual players when in reality they are playing their normal game but are being beaten by a better player on the day.

Weller/Minchington/Gresham 0.7 - Hard to win when your forwards are putting those numbers up.
Has Bruce been beaten by a better player for the last 30 games? 7 touches and 3 marks, pretty fortunate to end up with 2 goals
Billings finally converted 2.3 into 5.0 - huge difference, but I think he has been pretty good most game this year. We should absolutely sign him up LOOOONG TERM while his rates aren't absurd.
Loved Ross's 2 goals plus 31 touches…
Steele just keeps on delivering
Dunstan was very good, got a lot more of the ball
Newnes, Montagna, Acres, Gilbert all really important without being too flashy.
I thought Longer was pretty good despite Kreuzer running him around, definitely won the ruck duels and Kreuzer's possies were largely ineffectual.
We made hard work of it with plus 22 inside 50's but it's really good to get a win when challenged like that.
Re: Saints v blues match thread
Dunstan got more of the ball, and wish he didn't
I figured out what's worse than him not getting a kick... him actually getting a kick.
He is so slow it's funny
