Re: Has this happened before in AFL/VFL history?
We have been on the wrong end a few times.
The only time a match result was overturned on the following week awarding Fremantle the win.
Also the night at Waverley when the lights went out -match should have been drawn but they finished on the Tuesday when Essendon were allowed to play Hird and others who were not in the original team!
People wonder why we are paranoid about our treatment.

Seriously? I can't remember that. Was it a pre-season game?longtimesaint wrote:We have been on the wrong end a few times.

No. It was for premiership points.suss wrote:Seriously? I can't remember that. Was it a pre-season game?longtimesaint wrote:We have been on the wrong end a few times.

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Sirengate!
Speaking of which, I was at Moorabbin on the day (13/7/67 - almost 50 years to the day) the siren failed to work just before half time and Carlton scored a goal. They won by five points. We were told, "them's the rules, the game is over when the umpire signals he has heard the siren." Years on, "process" was invented and we lost the game, despite the rules.

We were also involved in that notorious "Voices in the sky" match with Fremantle.
The most blatant umpire bias you could imagine after GT had bagged the umps the week before.
Another funny one Saints were involved in was when the umpire (Forgotten his name) marked the ball.

Still pissy that there were player swaps allowed.

Yes it has.spert wrote:A player gets a free kick, and is then suspended for the tackle he got the free kick for?
I can't believe people are complaining because we got a free kick.

Re: Has this happened before in AFL/VFL history?
You can't believe that people are complaining because one adjudicator sees an action as worthy of rewarding the player, where another sees it as worthy of a suspension? I can see the arguments on both sides but if you can’t understand the frustration and confusion of the players, coaches and fans, then I’m very surprised.kosifantutti wrote:Yes it has.spert wrote:A player gets a free kick, and is then suspended for the tackle he got the free kick for?

I remember it happening last year in a game, but can't remember which- and not sure what the outcome was as far as suspension.

Hawkins hits the post in a grand final that we only lose by a few points and they now have changed the rule to video review

What about the 1913 premiership farce. We won the "first" Grand Final, but as Fitzroy had finished first, under the system that year, they had the right to challenge. Of course they won the following week and the rule was hastily changed. Typical!
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

No it wasn't. Not scary at all. Fire in the middle of the ground? What was going to burn?stonecold wrote:Waverly was a scary place to be that night, point post ripped out, fire in the middle of the ground, it was awesome!!!!!
Some people just like to pump themselves up and basically go over the top.
Waverly is scarier now!

When you say hastily changed, it was 17 years!White Winmar wrote:What about the 1913 premiership farce. that interesting ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory is a quaint but boring st kildaism
... best we learn how to win then.
Great work lads
... more suspensions please.

You guys forgetting this? Paul chapman wins the norm smith against us, kicks the winning goal and 2 months later his blood injections treatment gets banned? Weapon and Dank were at Kardinia Park too but I'm just a nut job and sore loser.

I know! What kind of f***ed up rule is that?!!?White Winmar wrote:What about the 1913 premiership farce. Why didn't it go to a third and deciding game at least?

Maybe we could get a retrospective premiership cup and flag for 1913.SaintPav wrote:I know! What kind of f***ed up rule is that?!!?White Winmar wrote:What about the 1913 premiership farce.
