Re: Changes for the Blues
I'd like to see Pierce given a go at some stage. He'll get his 15 possessons around the ground and take 5 or 6 marks - which is worth 100 hitouts (and he'll do okay in the ruck too).

Re: Changes for the Blues
Getting back to the 66 grand final, I was there, stood for the whole game as was the practice then. Ian Cooper was B.O.G. according to the experts. I thought Brian Sierakowski was one of the best. I remember him running carrying a St.Kilda flag after the siren and he was exhausted. Stewart and Baldock played handy games but neither was B.O.G. Cowboy was closer than them.

I personally thought Brian Sierakowski was our B/O/G.

Re: Changes for the Blues
samoht; I feel the same re: Lewis Pierce. He and Hickey both playing in the ruck slaughtered Carlscum at Etihad last season. Kreuser was well beaten that afternoon. If I remember rightly, Pierce got a goal too!

In: Weller, Lonie
Out: Wright, Stevens
Can't wait to see Marshall upgraded and played at this level but might be a bit early - his time is coming soon though

Agreed. We have had plenty of those over the years. I'm not saying he should be in this week either. I'm just saying that I liked what I saw.Sainter_Dad wrote:Just hoping he is not "The next Great White Hope"saint64 wrote:Just watched the Marshall highlights on the website - hard not to be impressed!

Re: Changes for the Blues
Out: Stevens, Longer
In: Weller, Holmes (or anyone).
Stiff: Lonie
When Billy gets a tap, they rarely are to advantage, and he had quite a few opportunities to put it down one of our bloke's throats, but couldn't. (Compare that to Holme's taps - and yes I know that was in the VFL.)
And wot duh re those taps deep in our backline... over the back... towards their goals???
And once the ruck is contested... it's back to the Saints playing one bloke short.
Yes, Billy put in very well against a (looking not quite right...?) Mumford, and played probably his best game yet. So credit where due. (Might even keep his stocks up with other clubs for a bit... dare I say it... longer? ) But playing Billy still means playing with only 21 blokes on the ground.
And don't bring Paddy back either, till he's fitter and stronger. That's for the good of the team, and of Paddy.

Didn't realise billy counted as 4 blokes on the ground, I always thought his ruck work was his strengthDave McNamara wrote:Out: Stevens, Longer

Re: Changes for the Blues
I'm guessing thats Jack Steven.tony74 wrote:The one thing the club really tried to develop this year with their trading and drafting was a replacement foe each player and position ( whether through injury or management ) Think we've achieved that so really any changes shouldn't make much difference to the way we play. There is one player/position that we haven't got a ready made replacement. Let's hope he's durable.

I hated when they swapped jumpers with the enemy and was appalled to see the Doc receive the cup in the wrong colours.

Re: Changes for the Blues
Out : Stevens, Roo (managed)
In : Dmac, Paddy
DMac was an emergency lst week.
I believe Weller is still unavailable otherwise he would be Koby's replacement.

Re: Changes for the Blues
If we rest Roo and lose a game we should win...
How would the reaction be
How would Roo react
Roo has between 15-40 games of footy left in his life... after playing 325 so far
Do you think he'll miss one game if not injured?
Did he get injured? Was he sore due to the short break, playing interstate which disrupts his normal recovery?
He does everything to get up from injury, soreness is a nothing to him
