GWS's coach stated that Kelly was staying over......to visit family.

Though to be fair if you were a player from Melb originally with family still here why would you not?

On the other hand one of the BF posts this week was someone who claimed to have gone to football with a close Kelly family connection who reportedly said that Kelly would not be in Sydney next year.

You don't think teachers and nurses get remunerated?

102k with 11 weeks holiday per year for teachers... who work 36 hours per week? Not too bad

Plus 5 sick days without cert and 15 with per year
Plus 3months paid LSS after 10
Plus paternity and maternity leave

Not too bad vs required ATAR

Players have 2-12 years to earn the most money they can in footy... they need to cash in

Now you are just rambling.

Fact of the matter is that most players do not chose a particular club who they want to play for based primarily on $$$.

Yes Gablett was tempted by the huge extra bonus that the AFL financed. Yes the Blues were allow to use the Visy Ambassadorial Rort to lure Judd. Boyd quite probably chose the Doggies because they paid above the market rate, but for any player that chooses a club just for $$$ there are scores and scores who did not.

We will never be a destination club.

For beginning, mediocre and average teachers the pay is fine - for good teachers it is poor. reach that top limit very quickly and then either try to qualify for a very low reward scheme or move out of the classroom into half holidays and many after hours meetings. My family is full of teachers - none of them do it for the pay. Brother left and became a journo and is making one and a half times as much. Didn't leave for the pay as initially he was on less - moved for his own interests. Money is just one factor in career choice.

102K per year??????
Maybe senior leadership positions or private schools.

36 hours per week?????
Maybe teachers who have no desire for their job.

This is the perception on teachers that annoys me.
And no I am not a teacher.

Build a solid and efficient club administration; become a perrenial finals-playing side; win a Flag(?!) and why should we NOT become a "destination club"? From what I've seen in the past three seasons, there's every reason to be optimistic about the future. As a matter of fact, the "present" aint TOO bad!

$102k per year is definitely not what the average teacher receives.

Depending on whether the person is in the primary or secondary system the AVERAGE salary in the public system from March 2017:

Primary System: $61,532
Secondary System: $66,920

These averages only include teachers that actually teach, not non-class contact former teachers in administrative / management positions.

Gee if the average salary was $102k per year and all those hols, there would never be a shortage of people wanting to teach.

Also you'll find 11 weeks holiday for the majority of TAFE teachers disappeared in some States 10 - 15 years ago, depending on the General Aggreements the Sates had with their individual colleges. Many tafe lecturers operate on 4 weeks holiday plus the normal public holidays the rest of the Australian workforce get.

They definitely work more than 36 hours. My wife is a teacher first year out of university and works 40 hours a week as well as 2-3 hours every night (including weekends) planning lessons and marking assignments. She earns 59k.

I manage a retail shop, earn about double that and would be lucky to clock over 40 hours on a bad week. In saying this though, I am studying to become a PE teacher as we want to one day work together and have holidays together etc.

Either way, teachers are severely overworked and underpaid. A bit like my sister who is a policewoman.

Poorly researched BM, that's not like you. 102k is 8k more than the top salary paid to Government and Catholic school teachers in Victoria.

Moorabbin is a lot closer to Elwood than North Melbourne is.
