Stevens can accept 1 week.
Also Steven fined $1000 for knee to Coniglio.

Re: Stevens can accept 1 week.
What happens to the dopey umpire who rewarded his actions with a free kick? Fine? Ban? Rap over knuckles?

Re: Stevens can accept 1 week.
Absolute joke of a decision by the MRP. Watching that in game looked like a fair but tough tackle. Watching it on TV the commentators made more of it than what it was.
I like to compare incidents and considering Greene only got 2 weeks for blatantly punching a bloke in the mouth and Stevens cops a week for a tough tackle then its a load of s*** their system. I thought the recent additions of Bartel etc wouldve added some common sense to the panel.
It sets a precedence now that if you tackle hard youll get done for a week. this is dark path to follow.

exactly. people may think its okay that we inch towards safer rules ect, but they have been taking these inches for years and they add up. Who knows where we end up in 10 years time.Wombat15 wrote:Absolute joke of a decision by the MRP. Watching that in game looked like a fair but tough tackle. It didn't seem the two actions they don't like to me. And he had one arm free. Bummer for Koby who hasn't had much luck what with dodgy prawns and all. He's been a great addition to our clearances and tackles. Maybe Weller in and give Gresham/Minch/Sinclair more time on ball to see what they can do. Unless Richo's fav Dunny comes back in.

Re: Stevens can accept 1 week.
I don't think it's unreasonable really…
Slinging a bloke so their head hits the ground is exactly what they are trying to eradicate to reduce concussions…
Disappointing for us and Koby though.

If they are going to start pinging everyone for it then its reasonable. But they need to make a public stance about concussions/head related trauma.
Considering it was deemed a 2 week suspension for a bloke who was only off the ground for 20 minutes (then played out the rest of the game) for the concussion test and no one at the ground apart from the commentators seemed to have an issue with it. thats the part i see as unreasonable.

Re: Stevens can accept 1 week.
They did that because the commentators said they should. So now it was on the TV, so the AFL had to uphold 'the game's image'...as dictated by channel 7 and their troupe of morons.
I can't remember exactly what it was about but one exchange was
Carey - that was big
Taylor - that was really big, duck
Carey - massive!
So Carey, the balanced and informed opinion that he is, went from big to massive - is that an order of magnitude? - in 3 seconds, just because somebody suggested it was bigger than big. This is an idiot.

Agree his case was hurt by the media making more of it than it deserved, as well as the player missing a fair bit of the game. Seen worse get off, but seen lesser actions also take a whack. remember the tummy taps were once in vogue the year after Hall got off.

Trial by media. Do they (Fox & 7) want to take more influence over the game?
I'd like to see them have a policy of not discussing or repeating footage of reported or potentially reportable incidents until after MRP review.

Re: Stevens can accept 1 week.
I blame the amount of appalling 'throws' that the umpires were letting GWS get away with up until that point. It was excruciating seeing us lay good tackle after good tackle, only for them to throw it out illegally to a teammate.
I reckon Stevens felt he had to tackle extra, extra fiercely to get rewarded. Unfortauntely, he went outside the tules in doing so.

Re: Stevens can accept 1 week.
Yes it's wrong and stupid.
For crying out loud, he received a free kick for his efforts.
But he needs to cop it on the chin.
We will definitely miss his midfield grunt. He 's changed our midfield dynamic already in the short time that he's played for the Saints.
Can't understand why the Bulldogs let him go but glad they did.
Fortunately we have a ready made replacement in Luke Dunstan, who's performed well for Sandringham.
We need a big game from Luke. Carlton are no pushovers especially in the midfield.

You mean he actually wins the footy as well as being strong at stoppage
Yes, it is nice having a mid avg 27 and not 17

He slung him and his head hit the ground.
A challenge would ensure he missed the Sydney game as well.

Umpire not far away.
Called it as a "legal tackle" and "holding the ball"
I wonder if the Maggots's boss Hayden Kennedy might visit the MRP
and have some angry words with them about "umpires are never wrong"
or the AFL, being as honest as the North Korean government, just ignore their own freakin rules.
If it was the Filth, Eddie McGuire would be all over TV saying "Hang on, we've been told the umpires are like the Pope- infallible"

This is one occasion when we all would have been happy

Re: Stevens can accept 1 week.
The worst thing that could happen is Richo's godson Dunstan coming in,
he did get 28 for the Zebs, although he was helped by the surface being horrible 2nd class,
so everyone else was freakin slow as well.
Like when we got McGough from the FIlth, he was only ever good as a mud-runner.
He got BOG on Anzac Day as a teenager but it was a filthy wet day.
So Dunstan comes in, and gets his usual 14 disposals, which keeps his godfather happy,
and how the hell does Koby come back in.
Stevens' presence in the midfield has been like putting nitro in a drag car, makes a massive difference.
Our midfield fell away with Geelong, but funny, Koby comes in and suddenly our mids are like Hawthorn of 2015

I think the improvement in the midfield gas been more than just Kobe.WellardSaint wrote:The worst thing that could happen is Richo's godson Dunstan coming in,

Ross, Steele and Steven with help from Acres and Sinclair is a lot of the reason.
