What's an acceptable result tonight?
Whilst I really wants win tonight I can handle a loss of we play 4 quarters of solid footy and they are simply too good due to all their friggin handouts.
Even with the above in mind I don't want to see a loss any larger than 3 goals. It needs to be tight.
We are about a 30-40% chance of winning IMO

Re: What's an acceptable result tonight?
That's a pretty accurate assesment, but geez I'd love the Saints to win this one. A hard fought win on the big stage tonight will put us into finals discussions. And I reckon all the neutrals at home watching their TV's will be happy to see the Giants stumble.saintspremiers wrote:Whilst I really wants win tonight I can handle a loss of we play 4 quarters of solid footy and they are simply too good due to all their friggin handouts.

Re: What's an acceptable result tonight?
We have all been conditioned to mitigate disappointment.
I reckon we should put that aside tonight and expect our team to win.
Friday night at home with virtually a full list to choose from.

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: What's an acceptable result tonight?
A win is the only acceptable result.
I'm not interested in a competitive effort, or getting close etc etc. If the club is serious about challenging for finals, then we need a big scalp, otherwise we just flop around with the also-rans who show a lot of promise but don't deliver the goods year after year.
It will definitely be won or lost in the midfield.

Re: What's an acceptable result tonight?
I'd be happy for anything under 24 points - IF WE PLAY WELL. Giants, dogs and crows are the real standard for the top tier teams - Geelong is a fair way behind them.

Just like the coaching staff and playing group will believe, a win is the only acceptable result. We've moved on from the honourable losses phase of our progression.

David King has picked us in the Hun. By 5. Given he spends much of his time bagging us, I'm not sure if that's the kiss of death, or not ...

Re: What's an acceptable result tonight?
Statistically, we should struggle to win this game...but as we know, much of the game is played above the shoulders. For us to become a serious contender, that never say die attitude, and with players that are prepared to believe in themselves, then we must start to win some of these games when we are not expected to. GWS players are human. Get the doubt into their minds and who knows.saintspremiers wrote:Whilst I really wants win tonight I can handle a loss of we play 4 quarters of solid footy and they are simply too good due to all their friggin handouts.

I think both the West Coast and Cats games were vintage 'honourable losses'Beno88 wrote: We've moved on from the honourable losses phase of our progression.
We should be able to get reasonably close to GWS who are missing quite a few good players this week, we are only missing Armo and Weller.

Re: What's an acceptable result tonight?
If we bring the intensity and belief for four quarters and take our chances in front of goal we'll win. GWS have an unprecedented level of talent but they're not as mentally strong as any champion team. Though from what I've seen so far I feel like we'll dominate early, miss our chances and then be overrun by a cleaner team in the second half. Damn I hope I'm wrong

A win.
Beyond the stage of honorable losses or "building" crap.

GWS is one of the main reasons I have lost passion for the game. Given everything to win a premiership and barely average 5 thousand people at home games.
Love my team, despise the AFL.
