Re: StKFC deny report stating Fyfe to play in 2018 with Sain
The Club needs to deliver a very good player for 2018 to live up to all their statements over many years. Not saying it will be Fyfe, but it does need to a be a genuine gun like a Kelly, Martin , Fyfe etc...
To make any appreciable difference with the list that has been built what is now needed is an injection of some really class.

Re: Fyfe to St Kilda deal done?
THE suggestion Nat Fyfe is on his way to Seaford is baseless, according to St Kilda.
A spokesperson has confirmed to the Herald Sun that there is "no truth to the rumour" that the 2015 Brownlow medallist has been offered a deal reportedly worth as much as $1.5 million per year to become a Saint.
Fyfe's management has also been contacted.
We had to say that.
Other news - A St KiIda board member known as "Look at me, I am a big shot D**khead" has agreed to sell his family home and pay whatever fine the AFL imposes on the St Kilda FC from his own pocket.

Re: Fyfe to St Kilda deal done?
Eddie just called Fyfe to say $1.6 million a year but $1.0 million of that would have to be under the table.
Meanwhile Norf has said that if Josh Kelly turns down $9 million in 9 years they will trump whatever St Kilda offers Fyfe.

Well Fyfe could kill it off by re-signing.....spert wrote:Just remember- in politics, business, AND the AFL..Yes means no and No means yes, depending on whatever day of the week it is and to whom your are talking to.

apart from the on field effect there would be tremendous off field advantage with media, PR and membership. Would be a great coup on and off the field and well worth the money. Cant get that with two good players, cant get that with just draft picks, cant get that with some pseudo champion. Fyfe is a brownlow medalist, a champion player a once in a generation player. This would be as big as Judd to the Eagles, Barassi to North, Stewart to Richmond

Yes it would a huge boost for this reasons.....and the biggest coup since we landed Blight, but let us hope for a much better outcome.

Re: Fyfe to St Kilda deal done?
what's the minimum amount a club has to have on its list? If over we canteim project players. Nick only has a couple of years at best in him, and with Dempster out he and Joey are the only veterans sharing that discount. Fyfe is worth it and affordable if we trim the fat and backload other contracts. Nick and Joey both deserve one last crack at a flag - the only way that'll happen is if we get class like Fyfe asap. He's got at least 7 years left in him, barring injuries. A 10 mil 7 year deal to get him would be fair - if we're slightly over that then fine by me.

I'm no more inclined to believe it'll happen based on this story and it's origins.
But the longer he goes without re-signing the more speculation there will be.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Extremely sceptical on this.
Mark my words.
A drunk Board member big noting himself.
Typical St Kilda d**khead.
Either it is BS or the guy who mouthed off is a moron. Take your pick. Extremely unprofessional.

Agreed but bigger than Blight because he did not play and was always going to take time. Fyfe will have an immediate effectsaintsRrising wrote:saints66 wrote:apart from the on field effect there would be tremendous off field advantage with media, PR and membership. Re: StKFC deny report stating Fyfe to play in 2018 with Sain
Meh......
Lots of hysteria about it. The only people who know if there's any truth in it aint saying so. If it is true, then of course the Saints, the Shockers and anyone else in the midst of it will deny it.
Just like Geelong and Dangerfield, Lyin to Freo etc.......
So until the truth comes out it's all just blah blah blah speculation.
I wouldn't want to pay any player 1.5 mil per year. Too out of balance with the rest of the list.

I agree. Plus it reeks of the messiah complex where one player is the solution to all your problems. You're then only a knee reconstruction away from disaster.st.byron wrote:

Also just looked at his stats for this year. Solid for a mid, but less than elite. Seriously, big mistake I reckon to pay anyone that much money.

Fyfe would be awesome. Just not at 1.5 mil. One big fish via FA and one high quality young player - Kelly, Whitfield et al - via trade. That would be awesome.saintsRrising wrote:st.byron wrote:Yep agree.bigcarl wrote:I agree. Plus it reeks of the messiah complex where one player is the solution to all your problems. No problem with landing a big fish, so long it doesn't cost overs. You don't want too many eggs in the one basket ... or basket case in St Kilda's case.

Re: Fyfe to St Kilda deal done?
There has to be a trade for Kelly and GWS have said that North Melbourne have nothing of interest to them. On the other hand we probably have, 2 first round picks and players that may meet their needs. Unfortunately, I think the first thing GWS would ask for would be Dylan Roberton.ace wrote:Eddie just called Fyfe to say $1.6 million a year but $1.0 million of that would have to be under the table.
