Re: Fyfe to St Kilda deal done?
Awesome news if true! We need the biggest fish in the ocean and that's Fyfe imo. I just hope we leave enough in the war chest to keep some of our other promising young guns!!

Re: Fyfe to St Kilda deal done?
Great news. Glad it's leaked. Probably intentionally. Why keep it a secret? Can only boost our membership and crowds in anticipation this year and hopefully Distabilise those filthy Dockers.
That's a win-win!

I think Fyfe may just sneak into the line-up.bigcarl wrote:If the boys keep playing like they did Saturday Fyfe will have to earn his stripes with some solid form in the twos. Minchington will be spewing. Just when he'd nailed a spot, too,

Freo would take this...they need ruckman and picks
Longer joined us to come home to Vic from Qld though, and so I doubt that he would want to head west now.

I think he's a Restricted Free-Agent isn't he?Saintmatt wrote:We wouldn't have to use any pick - ours or the Dawks - he's a free agentThe Recruit wrote:Would be amazing...while many say it's not possible the longer he puts off committing the more likely he will be a saint.

Best thing is we may get him for hawks pick which would be just fantastic....
*A player has served eight or more seasons of AFL football at one club, is not one of the top 25 per cent highest-paid players at his club, and is now out of contract for the first time since reaching eight seasons of service. (unrestricted free agent)
The player is eligible to field offers from all rival AFL clubs.
If he wishes to change clubs, the player must decide on the best offer of his choice from one rival club.
His club does not have the right to match the presented offer, and the player can move automatically to the new club of his choice.
His original club will receive a compensation pick for the loss of the player, on an AFL-determined formula to apply where clubs lose more free agents than they gain in any single transfer period.
Presumably he's in their top 25% in terms of his pay?

The Crows didn't match Geelong's bid. The cats decided to deal with the Crows to avoid them possibly doing it (and in the wake of Phil Walsh probably thought that it was the 'right' thing to do).Life Long Saint wrote:Freo can match the offer. Just like Geelong did with Dangerfield.
No team has ever matched a FA offer.

Re: Radio reports stating Fyfe to play with St Kilda in 2018
Nathan Burke was stating this last year.
St Kilda has plan in place to potentially lure Nat Fyfe via free agency, says former board member Nathan Burke
http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/st-kild ... 4c0c9459a6
Though the article was more on the plan to get a Big Fish.
Re Fyfe he also said:
“Some people are talking $1.5 million to $2 million. To me, that’s ridiculous. There’s no player in the league that is worth that, even with the new CBA coming up. The wages won’t inflate that much to enable that.

This smells too much like a deliberate "leak" to me.saintsRrising wrote:Could also just be someone making it up of course.....Linton Lodger wrote:

It's a bit like a government deliberately "leaking" about a planned 10% tax increase, only to eventually introduce the 5% tax increase that they had planned all along.
A board member with "loose lips" spouts off to a journo in the west, the club denies having any agreement in place at all (all very carefully worded of course) , and then it's out there, as a publically "known" secret which gains more legs the longer Fyfe doesn't sign a new deal at Freo.

The Herald Sun has reported Fyfe’s “camp” responded to the development by describing the report as “rubbish”.

How can Reiwoldt be an Unrestricted Free Agent??
Surely he's in our top 25%?

I was of the understanding that after 10 years you are automatically Unrestricted.Johnny Member wrote:

Maybe Longer is not the ruckman being discussed???
I reckon we get him for nothing, Freo wouldn't have 1.5m spare to match, I think Fyfe would have let them know if he was leaving and they'd be making their own plans to fill the hole already.

Re: Radio reports stating Fyfe to play with St Kilda in 2018
If this was leaked by a club rep then they should immediately step down
It certainly could jeopardise any deal
But more importantly at a time when we have a developing team playing for a possible finals spot why would any true supporter put any more spotlight on the club
Just because someone wants to bignote themselves
This is way worse than a player misbehaving
