Votes v Hawks
Really????? - After a stirring win - with most people being Keyboard supporters for the day due to the game being in Tasmania - no voting thread - do we only vote to vent our spleens?

Re: Votes v Hawks
I'll have a crack at it. Very enjoyable game, and so many lads played well. I had about 12 guys who could have scored votes.
5. Roberton. So steady and constructive . Very clean skils.
4. Jack Steven. Breaks lines. Pace is a great weapon.
3. Jack Newnes. I suspect not many will vote for him, but he used it well ( whereas perhaps Jimmy W was a bit flashier but not as spot on with his disposal )
2. Tim Membrey. Such strong hands, and led up well all day. Roo was great too, but I think Tim shaded him.
1. Jack Steele. Love him inside. Koby Stevens was great too, but I had Jack as the better of the two.

5 Robbo - the run he gives from the back is insane along with intercept marking, kicking goals. Robbo's big problem now is that the oppo will start putting a lot of work into stopping him
4 Steven - 36 possies, said he struggled to run out the game last week which we missed. Back to his inexhaustible best
3 Ross - is beginning to impress me with his step up in responsibility. In the 3rd qtr when it mattered he was constantly amongst it. And you feel he still has another level to go to once he truly believes he is an a-grade footballer and starts to dominate.
2 Rooey - 4 goals just huge - and he was sick. Totally sick.
1 Longer - I honestly thought Longer played a huge role in competing so well at contests, but also I think Richo told him to shut down Macca around the ground in the second half and he did that which meant with Roughhead struggling Hawks had no real forward target.

3. Stevens.
2. Steven.
1. Joey
Apolgies to Steele and Webster.
Jack Steven would have been higher but his disposal is terrible at times.

Votes v Hawks
Lol at Longer.
5 possessions and one mark.
Only winning stat was 10 more hit outs. In a game with 60+ ruck contests he 'won' 10 more.
Against a direct opponent who kicked two of his teams 8 goals.
Not a universal measure but 103 ranking points vs 61.
And that's worth a vote.
I know it's an opinion game but gee whizz some people are one eyed.
Longer was dead set crap.

Re: Votes v Hawks
There has become this bizarre obsession about rucks needing to rack up huge possessions. We'd play another midfielder if that was so important - or play Gilbert as our main ruck. Why do we need a huge guy with average disposal using they footy so much? Let the mids do the distributing.Sobraz wrote:Lol at Longer.

Do you not see from today the importance of getting first hands on the footy? It all starts from there. If you can get a 5% ruck advantage, that means you are on the front foot, your player gets to give it to another player, to give to another and you are racking up possies, getting everyone involved and up and running. They call it the engine room for a reason.
This anti-Longer conspiracy is hilarious. The people who underestimate the ruck make laugh. Coaches don't. They love big huge monsters in the middle. TEams walks taller with them. Look how many premiership teams have a big strong guy protecting the mids and laying down the law.

Re: Votes v Hawks
In a game where we played spectacularly as a TEAM I find it a little hard to believe someone gets called out for giving a one vote to anyone. I need three lots of votes this week, there were so many contributors.
5. Robbo. Best no cost pickup from another club EVER. Magnificent today.
4. Seb
3. Stuv
2. Man Of
1. Jimmy
Apologies to everyone else, especially those who ensured goals exceeded behinds ...

Re: Votes v Hawks
There are about 60 Ruck contests a game... lasting 5 seconds each
There's a few minutes
There are 120 mins of game time
Ruckmen MUST be more than a witches hat after a ball up ... at 200cm they should contest a few marks imo
McEvoy and Longer had a good battle
Longer won the Ruck
McEvoy played better around the ground
Points to McEvoy

Re: Votes v Hawks
5 - Robbo - was every where and and is becoming our backline general, very attacking and slotted 2 nice goals from outside 50
2 - Steele - a really good game from a young man still finding his feet in a new side after coming off an injury. He's a tackling and contested ball machine
2 - Steven - good to see him back to his dynamic best. Would've been best afield if not for some misfired kicks
2 - Riewoldt - the fact that a 4 goal 20 disposal game is considered average for says enough
1 - Nat Brown - quickly becoming one of my favourite players, always does his job and rarely makes a mistake
1 - Webster - has really evolved as a player, and still has room to improve. I'm liking what I see
1 - Carlisle - showed some of his wares, good marking, and even better kick for goal
1 - Weller - did you know he kicked 2 goals and got 28 disposals?
Unlucky-Ross, Joey, Stevens, Membrey
