Caaaaaaarlton in Fri night prime time
What the hell are this perennial bunch of mediocre losers getting a Fri night gig on top of their Thur night season opening blockbuster?
If ever a club deserves to be relegated to the twilight wasteland poxtel zombie zone it is these serial cheats.
Whereas StKilda who finished outside of the eight last year on percentage are fronting up for our FOURTH (out of five) Twilight WASTELAND poxtel zombie timeslots.

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Isn't this the second week in a row we're on free to air in Melbourne?Enrico_Misso wrote:What the hell are this perennial bunch of mediocre losers getting a Fri night gig on top of their Thur night season opening blockbuster?

If the clubs were privately owned the governing body would need to be independant, or fear a legal challenge.
Our governing body has no interest in providing an equitable draw and conditions, they have a commercial interest in their own agenda.

Yep. 3:20pm isn't the twilight slot. It's the live-on-channel-seven-and-finishes-at-six-in-time-for-the-news slot.kosifantutti wrote:Isn't this the second week in a row we're on free to air in Melbourne?Enrico_Misso wrote:What the hell are this perennial bunch of mediocre losers getting a Fri night gig on top of their Thur night season opening blockbuster?

Re: Caaaaaaarlton in Fri night prime time
That may be true but where is the free to air coverage when you actually need it - for our interstate games like WCE in R2 and Hawthorn next week?kosifantutti wrote:Isn't this the second week in a row we're on free to air in Melbourne?Enrico_Misso wrote:What the hell are this perennial bunch of mediocre losers getting a Fri night gig on top of their Thur night season opening blockbuster?

Free to air coverage of Melbourne based games isn't much good for "real" supporters as they are at the game.

It is hard to get a handle on who will finish right down the bottom this year, isn't it?Toy Saint wrote:Carlton are seriously threatening our #1 draft pick
Carlton have already won one game, and it was a reasonable win too - against Essendon at the G. Most teams in the bottom three or four have a purple patch at some stage where they win a few games in close proximity, and then snatch an upset late in the season. They'll probably win six games.
Looking at the ladder today and the three top sides this time last year haven't won a game between them, and none of them are favourites this round either. That could mean that all three will be zero-five after five rounds. Normally you would just pencil sides in that position to finish bottom four, but Hawthorn have only recently won four flags, Sydney have played in two grand finals in the past few seasons, and North Melbourne have only had four seasons where they have won seven games or less since 1972, their worst season in that time netting them five wins, so all of three of these sides would appear highly unlikely from a historical perspective to finish bottom four. However, I think where Hawthorn finishes this year depends greatly on the next two rounds actually. A winnable one against West Coast in Melbourne, followed by us in Launceston which is a 50/50 game. They could win one or both of those. If they do lose both we may indeed be looking at a top three draft pick again, and quite possible two inside the top ten, so we'd want to use them wisely. A 190cm pacey outside midfielder would be one we'd chase I think.
