Bendigo was then part of Carlton’s recruiting zone and Ameet become a zealous Blues fan. He would also become an exemplar of Carlton’s famous Latin masthead ‘mens sana in corpore sano’ – a healthy mind in a healthy body; throwing his energies into sport and study alike.

Re: Ameet Bains ... Hawks circling
In the grand scheme of things what's an extra $100k really ?. Give him a pay rise and and a new title and some extra responsibility if that's what he wants eg Managing Director
I know I'd rather the club spend an extra $100k pa on keeping ameet rather than trying to lure a player from another club who may never play a game or meaningfully contribute to our success. Ameet has proven himself- he gets results. Come on Saints , don't lose someone of his calibre for a mere $100k.

Re: Ameet Bains ... Hawks circling
Hawks now know they gave up too much when they gave us their first round draft pick next year. So how to get it back? Do a Hawthornly beneficial deal with a St Kilda club officer that has already signed a contract to work for them.

What's the latest on this -it would be a blow to lose Ameet.

Caro on Footy Classified last night stating that Hawthorn should get Ameet Bains.SemperFidelis wrote:Caro:
"The club lost its chance to win back its preferred choice because the then AFL football operations boss could not submit himself to a process that threatened to last three months. Not while he was overseeing the on-field game at head office.
Now the club risks losing another preferred candidate in St Kilda's second-in-command Ameet Bains for a similar reason. Bains, viewed as a rising star in AFL circles, has reportedly told the Saints he is out of the Hawthorn process as he cannot rightly preach loyalty and commitment to players and staff at his own club while putting himself through the laborious campaign the Hawks have instituted.
That can change should Hawthorn president Richard Garvey and his board go direct to Bains as the Gold Coast's Tony Cochrane did – with strong support from the AFL – with Evans. Otherwise Bains will stick with the Saints as they move home to Moorabbin."

They want someone to pull Clarko into line. Sounds like a tough gig
Re: Ameet Bains ... Hawks circling
I think it was becoming a concern when all the players had to sing kumbaya while Clarko plays the guitarbigcarl wrote:They want someone to pull Clarko into line. Sounds like a tough gig

Then you have to abide by Kennett's directions, because he still runs the place.

I would hope there's already a succession plan in place. And if money is an issue, bump up his salary now to CEO level.Mr Magic wrote:What's the situation with Finnis?
Surely if he's going to the AFL in the near term Bains would be odds-on to get the Saints job?

HAWTHORN has been dealt a blow with St Kilda’s chief operating officer Ameet Bains informing the club he will not pursue its vacant CEO position.
The Hawks have been without a chief for four months after Stuart Fox was appointed to the MCC and Bains was heavily linked to the vacant position.
However foxfooty.com.au understands the respected administrator has informed Hawthorn of his decision to remain at the Saints, where he has been since January, 2011.
Bains has been one of the club’s key drivers in returning St Kilda to Moorabbin which appealed to the Hawks, who are set to call Dingley home in the future.

She reported that she believed he would move to Hawks. Then reported that he had informed the Hawks he would be staying at St Kilda.BigMart wrote:Caro
Wrong again
Don't really see any issue in that. Compare it to Barrett who wouldn't even back down on his Dempster call. Now that was pathetic.
On Ameet, this is massive news. Feel great about having him in charge of our trading come October, especially after what we did with that Hawks trade.
