Joey time wasting in goal square
Commentators saying it was a bad look. Being arrogant or running down the clock? What do we think?

Ah okay, they spoke to him after the game. Just running down the clock. That's okay I think

Re: Joey time wasting in goal square
i think it was a really smart move
didnt rub it in. Gave the boys a slight rest, killed brisbanes confidence and killed 10 seconds
if he was waving it around its one thing, making a joke of it taunting them etc. Just the move of a smart experienced footballer

Richo didn't look impressed.
It was a poor effort and he should know better.
Mav wasn't much better. I'd nearly drop him for those marking efforts. He needs to pull his head in.

Unrealistic marking attempts when he should be trying to get the ball to ground.

It was the sort of thing you might see from Nick Kyrgios but not from Roger Federer - disrespect for your opponents.

Not even worth mentioning except to say he say maybe he should have handballed off to Steele.

Not even worth talking about once he mentioned his intent. Maybe if he was 2-3 seasons into his career but his character on the field is unquestionable.

I thought it was terribly unsportsmanlike. He ought to be ashamed and the club should fine him.
Arrogance and disrespect for the opposition should never be tolerated. Without getting too far off track and into very dodgy territory, I think there should be some kind of moral standard and that falls below it, whatever it is.
Not cool.

Re: Joey time wasting in goal square
how was that arrogant? he didnt give it to them, didnt show them the ball, he just held it for 10 seconds before they got near. If it was a grand final we'd all be calling it a masterstroke to kill the clock. it did everything he intended. Killed the clock, got a breather and broke the last bit of confidence of the lionscarn_sainter wrote:I thought it was terribly unsportsmanlike. He ought to be ashamed and the club should fine him.

It was a critical time in the game and he made 100% the right call. If he gave it to them, showed it to them, danced around on the line screaming look at me look at me. Id agree 100% Embrace what guys like joey and roo give because we really wont get to see it much longer which is a shame

If you saw the cut to the coaches box right after you'd have a good idea of what he copped in the roomssaintbob wrote:It looked s***, and I'm glad Richo thought the same and I reckon Joey's ears would be still ringing!!!
But Richo didn't seem super worried about it in the presser, even said he wouldn't mind if Joey did it again if there was no arrogance about it.

Re: Joey time wasting in goal square
We lost to Norf last year, one of their rookies held the ball until clock ran down.
This was within the rules as well, no big deal.
He had a bloody good reason

Re: Joey time wasting in goal square
in Fagan's words
The coach had no issue with St Kilda veteran Leigh Montagna's decision to run a few seconds off the clock in the last quarter when he held on to the ball in the goalsquare, instead of kicking it immediately.
"Joey's been a humble champion for a long time and I wouldn't have thought that there was anything more in that than him just being a smart player," he said.
