Just drive to a station on the Sandy Line (Brighton Beach and Elsternwick are good options) if you are on the Frankston line, or to Armadale (plenty of parking on side streets) if you are on Pakenham/Cranbourne Line and train it in. Honestly, the section of rail which is replaced by buses on most weekends is a joke. I once saw a bus bus driver so desperate to stop people from getting on to an already overcrowded bus that he closed the door on an old man's face at Mentone.
Don't let it stop you from going to the footy, but if you have a car and you're taking kids, or going with older people, just play it smart and drive to a station which has ample parking and doesn't necessitate transferring to buses and trams.

Your friendly neighbourhood samurai.

Plenty of car parks available at the Elsternwick station at the moment and they are all undercover a stones through away from the trains

SE Freeway a carpark even though tunnel now open. Some genius decided to combine a fun run closure with road works

Traffic around Etihad a nightmare.
Why didn't they start this game at 3 or 4:40?

I did a U turn near the Albert Park Lake going to the footy today and drove back to Armadale station and caught the train to Southern Cross... SOOOOOOOOO much easier.

The traffic near the lake was almost at a standstill.

Going to the footy is great, getting there and getting back home is becoming a nightmare.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?
