My birds passed over Adelaide and went on to strike outside Skilled Stadium. They were thrown off course by Billy Brownless' extra gravity (like when a NASA spacecraft has a slingshot around Jupiter) and narrowly missed Joel Selwood, luckily he ducked in time- go figure

I flew back in on 22 March and my case was first off the carousel, I definitely wasn't travelling at the pointy end of the plane for that lucky dip to happen to me........ first time ever in all my many, many years of travelling.

My problem with West Aussies is purely with those born-and-bred in Perth.
They live in a 5km bubble around their suburb, and know little of the outside world.
Example: one of my colleagues (this is a while ago) was crowing about a new Aldi store in their suburb, Joondalup.
He asked where I did my shopping, I mentioned my local IGA in my suburb (Yokine).
He rolled his eyes and replied "Oh, I wouldn't go that far to do my shopping".
You just have to walk away in sadness.
Conversely, 100% of folk I have met, that have spent their formative years in a regional centre or country town- they do not have the country town mentality.
Curiously.
You speak with them and are tempted to ask whether they grew up in Melbourne, because they have that grasp of common sense and logic.
My theory is that Perth folk are stuck in a mental rut, whereas non-Perth people are (a la Oscar Wilde) "looking at the stars"
because they are open to travelling to Perth for uni, or for better career opportunities, so their minds are far more open
