We just don't have the talent to match the Demons, will be flogged next week interstate no matter who comes in or out

Re: Ins & Outs for round 2
When has a team ever dropped that many players. Let's take a deep breath and have a serious conversation, and not a wishlist.
I am a big fan of Hickey but he got belted today. Time for Longer to come back in for a spell?

Re: Ins & Outs for round 2
I would drop Ross, Bruce, Savage (never to play seniors again, Shane), Lonie (for missing goals), Armo, Geary, and Dunstan.dragit wrote:Here's a melt…

If I were Richo, I would tell the others that if they bring that garbage to Perth, they will play for the Zebs until the bye.
Disgraceful.

Have no idea how you can retain an account here.sainters85 wrote:We just don't have the talent to match the Demons, will be flogged next week interstate no matter who comes in or out
Enjoy your first win in over ten years against us.
Re: Ins & Outs for round 2
His 16 disposals were awesome, and not for the first time. I'm certainly rapt we have a midfielder that can do that week in week outwhiskers3614 wrote:pretty sure Dunstan wasn't worse than Hickey!dragit wrote:Here's a melt…

IMHO, Lonie and Jade Gresham are both freakish Milne-type small forwards, vantheman wrote:please no more Lonie......................ever!
and we cannot afford to have TWO on the ground of that type.
Lonie played like a freak in his first year, but sadly, the Gresh has claimed that spot as his own.
No more Lonie

Carlisle

Stands at CHB and hopes the opposition kick it to him and not his opponent
If he is the great white hope, god help us
He is only of value if the opposition have a Kosi like fwd

Our alternative game plan, did we have one? The coach shouldn't be exempt, a big fail in this department as well

Brown was worse than Carlisle IMO, he was meant to be the guy who could stop Hogan who was running rampant.BigMart wrote:Carlisle

Carlisle's first game in 18 months.

True, no excuse for opposition kicking 10 in a row.Playon wrote:Our alternative game plan, did we have one? The coach shouldn't be exempt, a big fail in this department as well
Did we miss Joey and Dempster's on-field leadership when the floodgates opened?

Re: Ins & Outs for round 2
From our midfield one of Dunstan and Ross need to go. Both one paced dour midfielders. Offer zero outside run. Actually, both could go.
From our fwd line Roo obviously out, Lonie out as well. Wright lucky to keep his spot.
From the back line Brown looked s*** house. Savage weak as piss. Seeya.
In: Acres, Sinclair, Mckenzie, Dempster & Paddy
Out: Ross, Dunstan, Savage, Brown & Roo

Re: Ins & Outs for round 2
We don't know about Roo, Joey or Paddy yet, so on the assumption that Roo's right next week and that Montagna & Paddy won't be ready:
Out: Wright, Lonie, Ross
In: Acres, Sinclair, K Stevens

Re: Ins & Outs for round 2
No, that's why many of us are disappointed, we were well beaten by an inferior opponent. Melbourne won't get too many more games where they get to move the ball at treacle speed whilst their opponent drops all pressure in the second half.sainters85 wrote:We just don't have the talent to match the Demons, will be flogged next week interstate no matter who comes in or out

I agree with this.
Long way off being an AFL footballer.
His tackling cost us and started the rot.

Re: Ins & Outs for round 2
The problem was that neither Carlisle or Brown were agile enough to go with Hogan. He covers a lot of ground. Did we miss Dempster? Possibly, but where I think we did miss him was that for the last few years he has been the organiser of the back line as well as the player prepared to leave his opponent to help a teammate. Players like Roberton look good when they are the free man but are under pressure when they have to defend/man up. This zone defence is good when your midfield is on top but when not, a defender should play man on man. The basic 'job' of a defender is to beat your opponent first and foremost and then attack. Maybe I am just old fashioned.dragit wrote:Brown was worse than Carlisle IMO, he was meant to be the guy who could stop Hogan who was running rampant.BigMart wrote:Carlisle

Re: Ins & Outs for round 2
Well Melbourne changed their game plan after the first quarter, we had no answer to it, We just kept doing our Saints footy plan, which is the old Grant Thomas plan, we had the same answers as we had back them when we started to lose, head in the sand.
Our backline was only part of the problem, but did we play too many plodders down back? we cant undo that once the game has started. Dempster would of been more than handy. How many more games has Dempster left? We needed someone more mobile to play on Hogan for a start. But I would of been happy for Richo to try something different in the midfield, thro in Gilbo or even membrey, mix it up. Play man on man for half a quarter, create our own spread.. We tried nothing

Re: Ins & Outs for round 2
I said it last week , Ross' JLT form was woeful and he carried that into this game. Really don't understand how he got picked because it certainly wasn't on form. By the way, I am a long time fan of Seb's, but I also think you pick players on form not on reputation. K Stevens if fit comes in for Ross.
Mav worst game for 2 years - his JLT was probably good enough to give him another week. Similarly Wright JLT form was solid so maybe gets another chance, but will come under pressure from Minch and Joey.
Teams have worked out Bruce, and god help us if both Roo and Paddy are not available next week as we will be lucky to kick 10 goals next week against WC.
