Did you not read the whole thread?

I see you can't use the quote function, but surely you can read??

FYI, in case you can, normally players with injured hammys can't play. Notable exception
was Trevor Baker at VFL Park in the late 80's, but that was during a game not pre game.

I'd say the first one lacks accuracy or isn't as bad as first thought.

Acres for Paddy? The regular absence of McCartin yet again highlights how lucky we are to still have a player like Nick Riewoldt running around.

Poor Paddy can't take a trick :( Hope its not too bad. He was covering the ground well in the preseason

I reckon they'd play Rooey more forward and perhaps Acres comes in to take Rooey's winger role. ACres might need to cover back a bit to help out defensively which Roo was doing a bit in the preseason. Good test for his two way running.

I can't see them playing Battle - had a great praccie game but you would think still needs more conditioning. Likewise Marshall or Pierce who still seem off it.

How bad is the hammy? Is it a one game tweak, or more significant?

Obviously we've got Rooey as well, but this is where using Carlisle as a swingman could be so handy. If the forwards aren't getting it done and we feel we can cover their forwards ok, we could throw Jake forward if necessary ie we're behind in the last qtr. His height and marking could throw them out completely and free up others. We are developing a pretty flexible team. Robbo or Gilbo would need to step up as man on man defender though which they've struggled a bit with. I'm hoping Robbo can keep developing into a solid third defender who can go man on man. That is where Dempster would be handy if they wanted to throw Carlisle forward.

Gilbert to wing!!!!
Yes!! Loving this team. For all the Acres fans wake up!!!
He is not top 22 and Lonie is a MUCH better choice. Lonie gives 100% has better goal sense and will be front and square.
Acres in will be a disaster. Fair dinkum learn about AFL please. Thank god AR knows the game and will bring in Lonie.

This is a joke post right?

Lonie fell right out of the best 22 whilst Acres climbed in and several forumites remarked during the JLT that they had written Lonie off.

I got nothing against the kid but to say he is ahead on Blake based on what we've seen is laughable

You can put Gilbert to the wing, but who replaces Gilbert? Surely Shady Acres is more like-for-like replacement for Roo who is the obvious choice to replace Paddy. I'm still not sure about Acres, he's a bit hot and cold, but his form at the end of last year warrants selection.

For what we need TODAY Lonie is the option and why he will be picked. All the acres lovers will melt but have some logic. Think about gameplan and crumbers. Lonie could kick 4 tonight.

Its not laughable at all. Lonie was in the last JLT game which was basically considered our best 23 at the time. IF Gresham is going to spend more time in the midfield then Richo may want Lonie as that more permanent crumbing small forward. But also Lonie started landing more of those short passes to forwards that sets them up for shots on goals that he looked so good at when he first joined us. If the big forwards don't have their big marking gloves on, they can drift out of the game. A guy like Lonie can bring them into it. Caleb Daniel for dogs was so valuable as a link up player particularly going into the 50 where he could hit targets so accurately. They may want Lonie to be a similar link-up player so we are not just bombing it in a lot but getting shots on goal well inside 50.
