Brown, a filth vice captain and premiership player shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as Delaney, a plodder at best. A liability at other times.BackFromUSA wrote:Massive upgrade on Delaney because he has skill with ball in hand. Good stopper too.

Re: Nathan Brown- opinions please
Did you hear Richos pressed after the game? Dempster was only going to play two games in the JLT and was saved a coach trip to the country. He played for Sandy only because he just wanted to keep playing and have continuity in his footy.dragit wrote:Looks like he has pushed Dempster out of the side for round 1…
How have we seen his pre-season form? Who has he played on?

Re: Nathan Brown- opinions please
'Horses for Courses' IMHO.
Round 1 vs Melbourne.
We need someone to play on Hogan, who has kicked bags on us previously because we had nobody to match up on him physically. Brown is physically the right person to play on Hogan.
Carlisle should play on the Demon ruckman who rests forward Gawn/Spencer
Roberton on Pederson
Gilbert on Watts and follow him wherever he goes.
just my opinion of course.

No I didn't hear that cheers…prwilkinson wrote:Did you hear Rich'os pressed after the game?
Selection will be interesting, as I can't see all of Brown, Dempster & Carlisle fitting too often.

That was supposed to be presser sorry. Yeah.. it's certainly going to be interesting... one thing is for sure... you'll need to keep playing well to keep your spot. That goes for a lot of positions across the ground. Gees.. I'm hanging out for next Saturday!dragit wrote:No I didn't hear that cheers…prwilkinson wrote:Did you hear Rich'os pressed after the game?

I don't know about Brown's quality as such, but the role he's taking is very important.BigMart wrote:Good player who will play a very important role
But for the first time in nearly a decade, Dempster, Gilbert etc. can play their more suited roles of 'mid/small/running defender'.
Shame Sam Fisher didn't get that luxury!

Re: Nathan Brown- opinions please
Well after the pre-season games I think the club would be more than happy with his performance.
He will probably get better too as with more games he will mesh with his fellow backmen better.
To my eyes with both Carlisle and Brown in our backline structured up a lot better throughout the series.

Horses for courses.
Depends on the opposition imo.
With a team like Melbourne we may only need Carlisle, Gilbert, Dempster & Roberton.
With a team like GWS then we will need these four + Brown.
Also will come down to how Dempster body holds up over the season. He is 33.

dont like getting anyone from the Skunks....still trying to get over picking up Ren'e Kink.
Re: Nathan Brown- opinions please
Thought he looked slow in the preseason - Tippet was working him over. Could be building as a big guy. He's had a lot of injuries though that could be catching up on him. His kicking was better than I thought. Willing to keep an open mind until the real stuff.

Possible Dees forward line.Con Gorozidis wrote:Horses for courses.

.
HF: Petracca 186 Hogan 195 Watts 196
F: Salem 183 Weideman 195 Neal-Bullen 182
Or if Dees play both of Gawn 208 and Spencer 203 one of them will be in the forward line too for big chunks of the game.

Should only play if the Dees play both Ruckman IMO...
The other talls are too quick except Hogan who Carlisle should go to and nullify

Re: Nathan Brown- opinions please
Been reported they're playing both Rucks most likely.. Rubbing my hands together.. Play Brown and Hickey goes Ur alone and we smash them for spread and pace.. Think it's a lock in 8 point match if they go in with 2 ruckman.. Time and time again it's proven to be stupid at Etihad

Re: Nathan Brown- opinions please
I was thinking that as well. Rooey is going to be so hard for their midfielders to run with. He will probably control the middle of the ground in the second half.mightysainters wrote:Been reported they're playing both Rucks most likely.. Rubbing my hands together.. No Spencer and Watts on interchange. Means Seanie Dempster misses out for us.saintsRrising wrote:Possible Dees forward line.Con Gorozidis wrote:Horses for courses.

Re: Nathan Brown- opinions please
I'm looking forward to having someone in the team to negate the big tall forwards. Will be interesting to see how we perform against WC this time around.White Winmar wrote:You'll all love him by the end of the year, guaranteed.
Re: Nathan Brown- opinions please
Brown was towelled up by Kennedy last year (not Robinson Crusoe is there!) and lost his place in the Coll team. Therefore, it'll be interesting to see how he bounces back.
