Great game by Steele, backing up his other games so far in the pre-season. We have FOUND a player hear.

He looks to be a great acquisition and love his great inside hands only better by the Hickster's inside handball work tonight.

Steele looks to be the complete package too. And all this to date after an interrupted pre-season.

Jack Steele is a jet.

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Jack Steele is the story of the JLT series.. we found ourselves a serious player.
I hope Koby Stevens can be the same.

Newnes and Membrey the best kick for goal in the team on a set shot.
Bruce and to some extent Mc cartin a lottery at this stage.

Presser: http://www.afl.com.au/video/2017-03-12/ ... -a-message

- Hickey sent a message, doesn't want to be playing VFL. Have a decision to make between Longer and Hickey. Hickey couldn't have done much more tonight to secure the spot.
- Happy with Steele, adds physicality and pleasing
- Koby ate a bad prawn at the hotel, sick and missed the game
- Mav got a corky in the leg, should be fine

I need to know why that wasn't a Supergoal - I believe that should have been a 9 pointer and so the match was drawn.

I believe the player is given the option to take the full 50m and kick a 6 pointer, or take the free kick at the 50m arc for a super goal. We elected to take the full 50m

Goals St Kilda: Weller 2, Armitage, Newnes, Lonie, Webster, Gilbert, Riewoldt, Wright, Membrey

I actually like the way we got goals without our 2 key forwards scoring. We need that load sharing. Weller's got a real knack of getting on the end of things.

I've learnt a few things in the JLT series..

..Jack Steel looks good, and should be a starter against Melbourne

..Hickey looks to have cemented the ruck position (I expected he would)

..Wright may have done enough to to earn his spot against Melbourne

..Brown & Carlile will probably get games, but it would be good if they were able to convince me they were deserving

..Paddy will probably be selected, but he needs to deliver

..Gresham will probably get the nod

..Acres and McKenzie will probably miss out

I reckon Acres might have done well in that kind of game last night. Lonnie I don't think is physically strong enough, and Paddy needs to do bit more, and chase harder, but he's still learning. Might be room for Sinclair in the forward line.

Im a bit surprised McCartin has been spared a bit in the thread
How he could have missed that 30mt shot is staggering - it wasnt even close
Just so worried about - "I dont even know how you could describe it" - awareness, luck, fragility
He always seems to get that knock on his scone each game

The main knock on Paddy prior to being drafted was that he was less than reliable in front of goal. Great mark, great reader of the play, smart and quick off the mark. A very good kick in general, but had a habit of missing a few he should have nailed. Last year against the Hawks was a classic example. A chance to ice the game from dead in front. Missed a few others, that were not so important during the year, but it is a bit of a worry. The only knock on Roo's career has been missing the odd clutch goal. Important that your main forwards nail the ones that really count. Let's hope he does a Loewey and improves in this area. Peter Hudson as a kicking coach, anyone?

Slippery night, shockers happen. If it happens again, you worry. He seems to be one of those that kick it better further out as he has to really kick through it. I liked the way he fought back in the second half to start to make things happen for himself when it was looking like it wasn't his night. Last year he would have just completely disappeared. The big guys tend to be very up and down for 3-4 years before they realise how to get themselves in the contest consistently when the play at AFL level moves so quickly. Is the exhaustion of so much running with a big frame at AFL level still hurting his shots on goal and will get better as he gets fitter? Here's hoping so.

Beaten only by the Sydney rule that states that Sydney must win all close games in NSW

Had Dunstan or McCartin scored a goal, they would simply have continued the game until Sydney scored the winner.
