Longer solo ruck then. Maybe Bruce and Carlisle in relief.

Marshall kicked 3 in Zebras practice match. NOK injured his knee but not serious they think.

Saints sound ho-hum on the radio, trailing 2 goals to 1 - a Gresham free.

Blues playing much cleaner footy early, we are turning it over far too often

Lucky they haven't capitalised as yet

Billings getting in and under the packs. Juice kicked 2 late. Everyone kicking sloppy early but getting better as the quarter went on. Blacres fairly quiet but did a couple of nice things. Haven't seen Long, don't think he's been on yet. Minch kicked a nice goal off a fwd 50 ruck crumb and missed another from around about 50 on the run. Looks lively. Webster sprayed a few kicks early but getting better with drive off half back.

Last 10 minutes was much better. We weren't switched on when we came out.

Started getting cleaner footy. Billings the standout so far, again.

Rice is moving okay too.

Just tuned in. Like our effort and pressure but kicking and disposal pretty ordinary. Steele impressing - strong onball and getting lots of it. Mckenzie getting a bit of it. Paddy leading well but need to get timing right.

I now see why we recruited Jack Steele. Kid could be anything.

Been a bit lucky with Carlton giving away free kicks, but we are capitalising.

Jimmy Webster reminding why he was an automatic inclusion pre-injury.

Steele could be that both inside/outside mid we have been craving. Looks dangerous all over the field.

Positives - maniacal tackling, ball movement and Jack Steele

Paddy gets front and centre nearly every pack he goes too. He is going to be that Hawkins type bull for us. Going to be very strong and almost impossible to push off the ball which gets defenders out of position.

Webster having a ripper game, and Steele what a good find.

Longer winning most of the taps...unfortunately nearly all going to the opposition.

Impressed with billings' attack on the ball, especially in the first. Webster looking strong, the half back line is going to be bloody hard to split. Steele looks like an absolute steal. Tough as nails, constantly attacking the ball and the man. I'm really excited by what we've got with him. Bruce going great guns, and paddy looking hungry.
Admittedly not much opposition but our structures are looking great the blues can hardly move the thing

Should see Newnes, Wright and Long after half time. Not sure who they'll swap out.

Is newnes plaing or was he the emergency.

He and Long ran onto the ground when the others came off at half time.

Newnes was the only one still wearing a training top on the final warmup.

Actually i thought Carlton were running the ball well at times. They just have worse disposal than us and screwed things up consistently. Our disposal still worries me. Dempster had a 15m kick to a guy way open and completely fluffed it. Goods teams will kills us if we do that.
