oops in Barwon Heads? - Dunstan

Post: # 1647754Post saintbrat »

http://www.saints.com.au/news/2016-12-1 ... -statement
St Kilda player Luke Dunstan has advised the club he has received an infringement notice for being intoxicated in a public place in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Luke fell asleep in public, was detained in police lodgement for a few hours and subsequently given a fine on release.

The 21 year old notified the club immediately and cooperated fully with police.

The team is currently on leave for the weekend and receives ongoing education around the importance of drinking responsibly.

GM – Football Performance Jamie Cox said Dunstan is very apologetic and embarrassed.

“Luke notified the club immediately of the situation and is extremely remorseful,” Cox said.

“Luke’s a trusted young man of strong character and we’re disappointed he has not met club expectations on this occasion.

“This serves as a prescient reminder to our playing group of the importance of responsible consumption of alcohol,” Cox said.

Club leaders will meet early next week to determine an appropriate course of action.

Sign of a healthy mind when you can fall asleep in public imo.
He is probably tired from all the training!

All about F**k all really.

The club will have to role out the usual platitudes to satisfy the wowsers, meanwhile Caroline will be busy writing a StKilda culture article with
three quarters of it devoted to the StKilda schoolgirl malarkey.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

interestingly the AFL.com headline on facebook is milder than the initial twitter one
AFL

St Kilda's Luke Dunstan has received an infringement notice for being intoxicated in a public place.
photo caption 'Saint detained by police '

as opposed to " hard nosed saint onballer in strife after drunken night out"

Certainly a step down from some of our past off-season incidents

I was thinking during the week... they were not getting proper sleep at the "high performance" training camp. A lot of recent research shows the importance of sleep for performance in many activities...

So.. i realise it is more of a team bonding camp and they just call it high performance, and that is fine...

But, I have little doubt that the week in NZ has been a contributing factor in LD falling asleep... He obviously had a coupke too many but he was very likley also sleep deprived and probably could not handle as many as usual and probably fell asleep pretty readily

Very very little in the incident...

Channel 7 said it happened in New Zealand. The sort of quality research we've come to expect.

Also when you are tired or stiff and sore you tend to drink a bit more earlier to get that jolt of energy but it catches up on you earlier too. Just a bit disappointing Luke didn't realise the risks after a tough camp and go home or to someone's house earlier if he wanted to keep partying. The worry was that he put himself in vulnerable situation passing out in public, especially as he was an AFL footy player that people love to film doing dumb things and provoke. I'd be disappointed if he was out with teammates and they didn't look after him. Buts all well that ends well.

Exactly my concern Bluthy. It is very unlikely that he would have gone out to drink on his own. Where the hell were his mates? The leadership group, when it meets, should also grill his drinking mates.

USELESS FACT: The WADA case against Essendon (in Sydney as well) is exactly 10 years to the day that Australia qualified for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
