Confirmed what we already knew with Sam Fisher looking likely to go on as a mature age rookie.

Does that mean we take Holmes at pick 61 and only have two live picks or do we still have to delist one more?

Rookie elevations are not assigned a pick number.
He will be added to the senior list in Monday's list lodgement.

No Sam Fisher has yet to be offered a contract.
He will be delisted bringing the number of senior listed player to 37, activating picks 23, 36 and 61.
All players delisted have the opportunity to be picked up as a delisted free agent, enter the national draft, enter the rookie draft.

One of Fisher, Shenton, Templeton, Murdoch or Lee may be selected in the rookie draft by St Kilda but there has been no intent announced.

It is a cruel process but it enables clubs to free themselves of their least productive workers.
Most businesses would love to be able to give workers a chance to prove themselves then turn them over if they don't succeed.
But they are blocked by the Fair Work Act.
Nowhere is this approach needed more than in our education system before we waste money on Gonski.

Hate this time of year. Every year it is horrible.

Best of luck to all of them. I hope Lee gets a gig back home playing whatever end of the ground he prefers. I'll never forget some of those roosting big kicks from Bull Murdoch. Loved the Panther. And Eli, well, my kids will be very, very sad. So much potential; he may be more likely than the others to get an AFL gig.

Cheers to all the boys who proudly wore our strip.

Happy with those delisitngs. Lee had to go.

And I really hope Sandy pick up Shaggy.

Eli should fit nicely into the Brissie side IMO

Can't remember a player cull where you could legitimately argue for all of the players to continue.
It wouldn't surprise me if any one of those 4 could have been 100 game players.
Saying that, I think they were the right ones to make space for others coming through.

Ace, don't you read the National statistics?

Wages growth remains historically flat and recessionary in a flat inflation economy and there is a transition from full time employment to part time and casual employment putting any continuity of employment at risk - these continuing and entrenched trends impacting on consumer confidence, business conditions (look at the ASX particularly versus major overseas Indices - and the decline of the currency from par to the USD to 75 cents), government revenue, consequently the Budget position and debt servicing where private debt is at over 200% of GDP thanks to the lending frenzy of our banks to maintain profits in the face of contracting margins.

The Fair Work Act is a toothless vehicle very, very easily circumvented by business (eg: CUB).

The only protection is thru Unions which employ the tactics they employ (eg the CFMEU which engages in the brutal rough and tumble on behalf of its workers to protect and improve work place arrangements, so rough justice for gains - and effective) to redress what the National statistics continue tell us.

Just goes to show that we should have upgraded 23 and 36 for gws 15 .we don't need any more fringe players. Could very well pick the same player that we've just delisted

Not really surprised, even by Eli. Didn't see him passing anyone on the list anytime soon so it was either him or Sinclair. Both currently behind lonie but all 3 are sandy regulars, gotta spread the talent pool.

It's a very tough business AFL… all of those guys could easily slot into an AFL side and perform if given the chance.

Unfortunately none were likely to break into our side any time soon, so after 4 years it is the right decision for us to bring in new talent in search of players that can become legitimate best 22 players.

Thanks for your efforts boys, you've all played AFL senior football which is better 99.9% of the population.

I'm not sure who is first cab off the ranks, but right now Savage is getting a regular game in front of:

Longer, Pierce, Holmes, Wright, McKenzie, Sinclair, Minch, Lonie… plus all of White, Rice & Goddard all with more time
