The Western Bulldogs have sent picks 35 (round 2) and 43 (round 3) to Gold Cost for picks 26 (round 2) and 80 (pick 5).
Maybe gearing up for a pick swap and Stevens?

The Doggies have put picks 35(522pts) and 43(378pts) together to buy pick 26(729pts) from Gold Coast
Gold Coast gains 171 points.

Don't be surpised if the Doggies try to upgrade pick 26 to 23 by offering 26 and Koby Stevens to the Saints.
Only values Stevens at 86 points but the Dogs clearly wanted to improve their position in the draft.

Some although Deledio to GWS means more unlikely now than likely.
So that would have been pick 15(1112pts) for 23(815pts) plus 36(502 pts).
We go down 205 pts but given picks slipping due to academy picks closer to 250pts.
But GWS has picks 51 (259pts), 55(207pts), 69(49pts) some of which they probably wont use.
We may need one if we use pick 50 on Koby Steven.

We are looking at pick 13 not 15.

They will end up with that pick for Marchbank.
Then let me rewrite it.

So that would have been pick 13(1212pts) for 23(815pts) plus 36(502 pts).

I know Jax has we want 13 not 15, but 15 & 27 is about the same on points with 23, 36 and 50. It's too good to be true though.

I still hold out hope for pick 5 or 6, thanks to last Friday my expectations became unrealistic thanks to the clubs for their posturing.
Please let me correct that

Adelaide have pick 13 but hope to get Gibbs with that pick.
Carlton are refusing.
Carlton need to do the deal for gIbbs to get 13 to do the deal for Marchbank
Onky then can we deal with GWS.

What steak knives could be thrown in depends on who we are trading with.
What are you correcting exactly Ace?

If it was the use of pick 27 in my scenario, that would have to be involved thanks to Richmond and Lids.

Also, good trade by the Dogs, I would've happily done 36 and 50 for 26.

Doggies and North just swapped 2017 3rd and 4th rounders for Hrovat to go to North.
Says that Doggies believe they will finish above North in 2017, and North are willing to take that slap down to get Hrovat.

5 trades done in 35 minutes.
The traders are finally earning a days pay.
Doggies have done two with two to go.
Cloke from Collingwood and Stevens to St Kilda.

Caddy wasn't given much midfield time -- but he still averaged over 20 possessions at Geelong. I think he'll do much better if played mainly as a midfielder - and that's what the Tigers would be thinking too.
Similar to our thinking with Steele - who is averaging 15 possessions away from the midfield.

That deal Geelong get pick 24(785pts) & 64(101 pts) but give up pick 56(194pts)
Values Caddy at 692 points = midway between pick 27 & 28
Caddy was pick 7 in the 2010 draft
But that draft had already had 12 underage kids removed from it over the preceding year.
That probably placed Caddy at around pick 11 in an uncompromised draft.

We have probably paid a bit less for Steele.

Future first going to GWS for Marchbank and Garlett, they'll keep pick 5 and 13 if they eventually trade Gibbs. 26 was also used in the Caddy deal I think so that's off the GWS table too.

I'd say the pick 13 talk was only if it went to GWS.

Ameet waiting til deals are done to see if he can scout around the packs and get a few loose picks.

Would love Ameet to go future first and 23 for Carltons pick 5. SOS would just see it as replacing the one he gave up for Marchbank/Garlett anyway, plus they get 23 in the deal.

So keen on a trade but realistically we don't have to be involved...

Points don't really mean much to a non academy (or f/s) club though - the value is determined by who will be available then in that year for all other clubs. For example this year pick 5 is worth three times what pick 10 is worth, but points wouldn't correlate with this value.

If Ameet gets in Giants ear, if pick 27 does get into their hands from Richmond, I'd be whispering pick 27 for 36 & 50.

72 points difference in Giants favour and gets us two picks in the top 30 to go with our mature aged guys. Use a future 4th or 3rd pick swap for Stevens and walk away.

Still working through some last minute scenarios.
May not get him by 2pm deadline tomorrow but will secure him one way or another.
If this is the case I can only assume we are working on something else that messes this deal up as if not it is pure incompetence.

We were told the deal would get done and that it was straight forward, and looks like we have left it to the last minute.

If we did not have what the Bulldogs wanted or had not already agreed to an exchange of picks then surely we would of not put this deal on the back burner to the end of the week.

Can't believe given Ameet and the teams performance this trade period that we would stuff this up, and I know if he his delisted we can pick him up for nothing.
We haven't stuffed this up.

That may well be the case but because there is no alternate points profile published I can only present you with the calculations based on the AFL official profile which is based on historical data over many drafts.
In reality each draft year has its' own points profile.
The data used by the AFL is probably tainted by mini drafts and priority access to 17 year olds.
But probably even more unbalanced in favour of later picks as clubs get better at ranking players.
2001 Montagna at 37, Sam Mitchell at 36, Dane Swan at 58 but Polak at 4 and Xavier Clarke at 5 would never happen in 2016.
Poor selections such as these would pull the value of early picks down and boost the value of later picks in the AFL profile.
Plus I note Sydney has just sacrificed points to move up the draft order.
We may well try to do the same.

Only two hours to go with heaps of trades not done.
Jaeger O’Meara
Bryce Gibbs
Brett Delidio
Caleb Marchbank
Will Hoskin- Elliot
Travis Cloke
Jack Frost
Koby Stevens
Nathan Vardy
Marley Williams
James Stewart
Jonathan Marsh
Xavier Richards

Just to name a few.

Will they come in rush as clubs capitulate or will this be the season of the big trade FAILS.

yes.. good call that one.. looks like 13 wont happen but getting 27 alongside 23 would be a good effort...

Still... 27 and 36 for 15 gets GWS extra points .. it is not as good as 13 but surely it s still a good deal?

To you all, my point is that we must be working on something else.

Hi given our outstanding performance so far I would be stunned iif it is not done.

There has been no angst that I am aware of that either us or the Bulldogs are screwing the other over.

Last time I looked it was a forum where one could state opinions, did not know you had to be in the know.

Regardless of what happens here we have killed it this trade period..

I think Caddy for 24 is a steal - right age demographic and kicks goals why wouldn't we have had a crack at that?
