Maybe that is the hold up on Stevens. We are either offering them 86 or offering them 50 but asking for 61 back.
That means we can use 13, 61 and 86 in the draft.
Still leaves us with two first rounders next year as well.

Pick 23 (815pts) + Pick 36 (502pts) = 1317 points = pick11.Gershwin wrote:Brett Anderson (twitter):

Now pick 13 will probably slip to 15(1112pts) or 16(1067) due to academy queue jumping.
We would be giving up around 200 points but that would be the incentive to the other side to get the deal done.
Remember we had pick 14 last year but it became 18 on the day.

Is there really an advantage for us in this year's draft to trade away a late second rounder to upgrade from 23 to 13?
Love it that we have two first rounders already in the bank for next year.

Re: Jaxons come on down
The deal from Hawthorn was so lucrative to St Kilda that I think the Hawthorn negotiators made a mistake and did not realise that they had left pick 23 inside the deal.St Chris wrote:It would make our deal with the Hawks effectively Pick 10 for Pick 13 & next years 1st rounder......
Pick 10 slips to pick 12 say due to academy picks = 1268 points
Pick 36 remains about there = 502 points
Take off pick 68 = 59 points
That would have offered St Kilda 1702 points worth mid way between 6 & 7 but again allowing for 2 place slippage = midway between pick 8 & 9
Means that if Hawthorn finishes in the top 9 St Kilda would be ahead.
Pick 23 is an unnecessary bonus, it is no steak knife.
It has been suggested that Gold Coast said we don't want any future picks in the O'Meara deal but
A Hawthorn offer of pick 23, 36 and Hawthorns 2017 first rounder would have been a better deal than they will get now.
If Hawthorn had waited until after the Lewis deal they could be offering Hawthorns first rounder + 23 + 36 + 48 = 1619 points.
Gold Coast takes those 3 picks to St Kilda for pick 10.
Saints laughing all the way to the bank.
Gold Coast ends up with pick 10 for 2016 and probably a pick 11 to 18 for 2017.
Oh dear. Hawthorn and Gold Coast have really stuffed this up.
But Hawthorn supporters are confident O'Meara will reject any attempt by Essendon due to bad blood between O'Meara and Guy McKenna when the latter was coach at Gold Coast.
O'Meara can refuse a trade to Essendon but once he is in the main draft and/or preseason draft he can only use salary requirements to prevent another club taking him.
Hawthorn does not have much salary to spare.

Re: Jaxons come on down
Melbourne have capitulated they wanted to use next years second rounder to get Michael Hibberd but Essendon were insisting on this years.
I just hate it when the Essendon mafia godfather Dildoro gets his way.
But this opens an opportunity for St Kilda.
Melbourne don't have a pick in this draft until pick 57, but Melbourne would desperately love to get an earlier pick in this draft by trading 2017 picks.
Not sure what we can do but any opportunities need to be explored.

I was thinking maybe pick 36 which comes from Hawthorn's 5th place on the ladder in 2016 for Melbourne's 2017 second rounder plus a steak knife like Melbourne's third rounder from next year.fugazi wrote:Are you suggesting pick 23 and 36 for Melbournes first next year?ace wrote:Melbourne have capitulated they wanted to use next years second rounder to get Michael Hibberd but Essendon were insisting on this years.

Melbourne dream that they will be around 5th next year giving them pick 31 which slips to 36 after priority and free agent compensation picks are added in.
We know they are dreaming which is to our advantage and a few steak knives enable you to have a meal.

GC deal for Prestia done. They now have pick 6 to add to the pile. GC now look like the safest option to get back into the first round purely on the picks they have.

Re: Jaxons come on down
Just spoke to Bev from Saints catering and she confirmed (as an ITK....in the kitchen..)
We have traded with a local bakery a first round option of bringing party pies and sausage rolls into our corporate offering at Moorabin!!
Bev's hopeful a second round deal for curry puffs comes through and suggests if this occurs we won't even need steak knives!!
Alright...!! I'm bored.
