Re: Jaxons come on down
Seems like they may trade a player out for a 1st round pick in 2016?? That's the only explanation I can come with. I'm starting to think Hickey?

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Jaxons come on down
Is there any possibility we go for pick 15 from GWS and draft Venables, Berry, Logue or Florent?

fugazi wrote:So we've turned one pick into 2 second rounders and 1 first rounder...........well that's cool I guess.
As someone said earlier, don't get attached to pick 10!
Slightly worried that we keep using our first round pick to up trade, and so keep trading off elite talent vs multiple picks, but this does seem a good deal overall
Who are we looking at with pick 23???
I reckon it's smart use or resources. Our guys are looking at our draft picks from this year and next as our resource pool and using them to advantage. Next year's second rounder goes out for Steele, but incoming are a first rounder and an early and late second rounder. Good trading I reckon. Longer term plan in action.

Re: Jaxons come on down
After that trade anything could happen next week.
Ameet has stated he wants back in to first round this year. Dont know how but i see us getting pick 5-8 this year.
Dunstan and a pick? Adelaide boy does he want to go home?
If we are planning fyfe sheil kelly or martin next year then youd think one of dunstan eli armo or ross should be traded out. No way ross is. Armo is our leader. I love dunstan though ... ahhh head spinning. Info overload. What a deal! Do people realise what weve just done here!?!? Just magically produced 2 second round picks from thin air, making Steele and freeman completely FREE.
As long as acres committs and doesnt want to go home.

To swap a first round pick for a first round pick and two second round picks is a great deal.shrodes wrote:My initial reaction was shock and horror at no first round picks, but after calming down I feel like qe got a pretty good deal, especially if the 2017 class does turn out to be better than 2016Johnny Member wrote:So basically, unless another Bontempelli or Selwood gets picked at 10 and/or Hawthorn finish above 9th next year - we've done well.

...apparentky a second round pick might be enough to satisfy the Brions for Tom Rockliff...
Forget the personal stuff for a moment and think of that midfield!

Steele, Stevens, Steven, Acres, Armitage, Newnes......thats a tough midfield, Rockliff in too? (won't need him)ben_fff wrote:...apparentky a second round pick might be enough to satisfy the Brions for Tom Rockliff...

Gresham for silk, Billings for class, Freeman for speed, Dunstan for grunt
Lacking 1 elite midfielder....goes by the name Nathan....
Nee!
Re: Jaxons come on down
We were a poor inside midfield team.
This idea of Rocky being no good has me puzzled. He's a tall ball magnet that's averaged between 7 and 10 tackles the last 3 years not to mention he can kick goals if he gets the opportunity to play forward.
Look at the way the Dogs shocked teams through the finals, you need to be more than average on the inside.

Im excited.
At this point Rockliff won't be worth the $'s he would want. Marginal gains given what we are putting together.

Re: Jaxons come on down
Took advantage of Hawthorns desperate situation beautifully
We practically got a 1st round upgrade (likely to be significant) and two 2nd round picks for free
Rolled the Hawks over and nailed them

Rockliff is better than any of our midfielders with the exclusion of Steven...

Re: Jaxons come on down
We gave away
Pick 10 (1395pts)
Pick 68 (59 pts)
Total (1454pts)
We got
approx Pick 14 from 2017 (1161pts)
Pick 23 (815pts)
Pick 36 (502 pts)
Total (2478pts)
We win on points by 1024 points = pick17
BUT
picks near the front end slip due to academy picks so our pick 10 will probably become 12 and lets say 23 becomes 25 and let Hawthorn be premiers in 2017 = pick 18 slipping to 21 say
Pick 12 (1268pts)
Pick 68 (59pts)
Total 1327pts
Pick 21 2017 (878pts)
Pick 25 (756pts)
Pick 36 (502pts)
Total 2136 pts
We win on points by 809 points = pick23
I can only imagine that Gold Coast refused to consider Hawthorn' first rounder from 2017 because Gold Coast could have had everything Hawthorn has given us instead Gold Coast gets pick 10 only plus players I imagine.
This sounds like Gold Coast have forced Hawthorn to do something stupid.
Is the 2016 draft considered that much better than 2017 ?
This definitely needs an explanation.

We now have
2016 pick 23 (815pts)
2016 pick 36 (522pts)
2016 pick 50 (273pts)
2017 Hawthorns' first round pick instead of our 2nd round pick
I still can't believe it, we have gained Hawthorn's 2017 first rounder for free.
Please explain Jaxons

Can we now trade Hawthorn's former picks 23 and 36 plus Hawthorn's 2017 first rounder to Brisbane for pick 3 or Gold Coast for pick 4 ?

Nah, bend the hawks over even more by giving GC 23,36 and a player for Omeara.ace wrote:Can we now trade Hawthorn's former picks 23 and 36 plus Hawthorn's 2017 first rounder to Brisbane for pick 3 or Gold Coast for pick 4 ?

In all seriousness, GC in an awkward position as Omeara can walk to draft now and still get to hawks.
