I think the Bombers are well ahead of us. Unlikely to fall our way IMO.sainters85 wrote:Apparently we're into him. Not sure the point in going after a fringe player of a premiership team?

Turned us down once before and went to Dogs. I reckon he might turn us down again.

Not sure that is right? Memory is Club never really pursued him last time around. Some interest but waned.Zed wrote:Turned us down once before and went to Dogs. I reckon he might turn us down again.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Koby Stevens
Also 100% agree but for me depends what we give up in terms of trade and $. Still need to build depth and if not using currency that would otherwise land the cream (eg pick 10) and paying average cash, then a good move I reckonsaintbob wrote:100% agreeWhite Winmar wrote:No. Just no. Re: Koby Stevens
Why do we need another GOP like him? Agree with WW, we need top end talent. Why trade for GOP's?
Re: Koby Stevens
As much as i think its a bad idea i think we have to trust the process the club is going with/through. Dont see what he can actually offer. Already have a lot of B grade players like him at the moment. I get you need to have a deep list but seems a lot to pay when you can get someone in the draft or delisted FA for half the cost and has the potential to offer more than Stevens.
Cant wait for the commentators nightmare when its Jack Steven to Koby Stevens #Steven2Stevens

Just watched the saints v dogs game from earlier this year. The game we won. He didn't really do much. Depth player at best.
We need more elite kicking and outside run. Not GOP inside players.

Re: Koby Stevens
If he costs a 4th or 5th round pick and low $ absolutely.
If a second round pick and heavy contract no thanks.

Re: Koby Stevens
After getting a lot of vibes that the Saints had many irons in the fire I must say I was pretty disappointed when this trade surfaced.
This is not a trade that we will be applauding in three years. Has a bit of Birss/Plapp feel to it.
I was (and still am) hoping for a tasty GWS or GCS picks swap. They have so many and cannot use all of them. Now that would make me excited.

Spot on, Minneapolis. He's not bad. He's just not what we need at present.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!
Re: Koby Stevens
Apart from Myron. Mark Stevens has now come out and said we are in the box seat at the moment for Koby Stevens.

Re: Koby Stevens
Why would we want a journeyman GOP?? This completely baffles me!! We offload someone like tommy curren already on our list, a solid depth player who was certainly 'up to afl standard' and then look at trading this bloke in! I'm stoked we have picked up Steele, and he is going to be a 3rd year player, so already more hardened than a 1st year player. All Stevens would do is deny opportunities to fringe young mids who could very well turn out to be much better than him. Cannot understand the thinking behind this one bit! will very dissapointed if we trade him in.
