Rockliffe would be good, he had 38 possession
Against us in round 23 and two goals.
We still need pace

Obviously Rocky is a good player.
But from an overall balance perspective I do worry about a midfield with Rocky, Dunstan and Armo in it. Potentially a bit crab like.
We need Steven to stay firing and Freeman to somehow come on and be a regular.

Re: Jaxons come on down
At this stage I'm pretty sceptical.
I see no need to trade pick 10 this year for an older player when it is possible to get someone of around that age (27 at start of next season) for free as FA.. If it is true we'd certainly have to get a pick or two in return..

Re: Jaxons come on down
The top 20 at the draft seem pretty good this year. Not sure why we would want to trade away pick 10.
Pick 10 could be a star.
Having said that - I reckon pick 10 for Steele + 17 would be terrific for us.
Still gets a first round pick in the draft and someone like Logue, Bolton, Florent, Galluci.
If we use 2017 2nd rounder on Steele we still get to use 10 this year and then keep our first rounder next year.

I think we should stop the 2 for 1 type trades and focus on the best quality we can. We have plenty of depth in fringe players (or those who haven't had an opportunity yet). We need sure things now.

Not a bad point. We have plenty of mediocre players already...saint-stu wrote:I think we should stop the 2 for 1 type trades and focus on the best quality we can. We have plenty of depth in fringe players (or those who haven't had an opportunity yet). We need sure things now.

Re: Jaxons come on down
As this appears the Trade/FA speculation thread, the comments of Richardson re Dempster are interesting viz:- "We hope that is not going to be the case going forward with Jake Carlisle coming in, a few others leaving recently with hopefully an active trade period but I am tipping Sean will still play on the opposition's best player more often than not".
So what is read into that?
We have traded the likes of McEvoy and Stanley (and with our scheduled Draft Picks) to add Billings, Dunstan, Acres, McCartin, Goddard and Gresham as First Round Draft Picks (and we have another First Round Draft pick available now) plus added Carlisle, Longer and Freeman and attracted the likes of Bruce and Membrey (as a bonus) over the last couple of seasons, adding 12 players with ability = half a side.
The question is, what next?
We have our veterans - and the comment on who Dempster will play against in 2017.
As I have ventured elsewhere, ignoring structure, I am of the view that our current List bats very well to the mid 20's which is a marked improvement on 3 years ago and that we have to build on that foundation we have established over the past 3 seasons - and our equation therefore is FA where the cost to our List is NIL (a compensation pick for the other Club).
It would have to be an exceptional established player to trade out any of the core List we have assembled IMO - and the cost therefore would not be one for one. It would cost us more than that - so is it worth it?
That said, what is the reference to "a few others leaving recently"?
And "hopefully an active trade period"?

We are stupid if we trade pick 10 for Rocky. Pick 10 should be taken to the draft and used on the best available mid.
