The Clarkson effect on modern footy continues unabated - Fagan, Bevo, Bolton. Hope we don't rue not getting someone so well versed in hawks clever zoning.

Terrific bloke and obviously deserves a chance coaching in the AFL. Could go all the way imo.

Who was the last indigenous Senior VFL/AFL coach if ever?

XAVIER Clarke has emerged as a coach in demand, with three clubs chasing the former St Kilda player's services going into next season.

As the coaching merry-go-round slows after a frantic off-season, Clarke remains highly sought after following three seasons coaching the Northern Territory Thunder in the NEAFL.

It is understood Collingwood has joined Richmond in inquiring about Clarke, who has ambitions to re-enter the AFL system as an assistant coach.

Fremantle also made inquiries about Clarke but appears unlikely to pursue him.

Greater Western Sydney also spoke to Clarke about a role on Leon Cameron's coaching team but the Giants are set to go down a different path.

AFL NT is supportive of Clarke's ambitions and is waiting for the 33-year-old's retu

Xavier Clarke completes Richmond Tigers coaching staff revamp

Former St Kilda and Brisbane Lions player Xavier Clarke has accepted a development role on Richmond's revamped coaching panel.

The appointment finalises the Tigers' new-look football department which now also features ex-Geelong assistant Blake Caracella, sacked Lions coach Justin Leppitsch and former Geelong and Collingwood football manager Neil Balme.

Clarke's former St Kilda teammate Andrew McQualter will move from development to midfield stoppage coach at Richmond.

Ben McGlynn (Assistant coach at St Kilda)

Only three weeks after announcing his retirement, McGlynn accepted an assistant coaching role at St Kilda.

The 31-year-old won’t go into the role completely untried, having some experience with the Swans’ NEAFL side, as well as the under-16 team. McGlynn will work closely with St Kilda’s younger players.

“After playing footy in Sydney for the past seven years, I’m really excited at the challenge of stepping into a new environment, a new club and meeting new people,” McGlynn told St Kilda’s website.

“I’ve had some exposure to coaching, so I feel like the development role is a great fit for me and I’m looking forward to working with the younger boys.”
