Re: Congratulations Bulldogs
Are we going to win a premiership because they did?
Are you watching them celebrate and dreaming about that??
You do realise
Them winning and is winning are mutually exclusive
In fact, we now have to beat them, an experienced premiership team.
I have respect for them as a team... Am I happy for them ... Not really
Some things that I'm sick of..
Bont
So brave
McLean high tackle
The package
But if their victory makes you happy. Good for you!!!

Re: Congratulations Bulldogs
Pretty well built their team from the draft. Boyd the only big spend.
So I hope we invest heavily in the recruitment team and ensure that we make every pick count - because just like the Dogs, we aren't going to attract FA's or big names looking to switch clubs.

Re: Congratulations Bulldogs
Again, the Saints are like them, no money just hope. Do things right and you're a chance.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.
Re: Congratulations Bulldogs
They deserved it and made their own luck by getting there
But
Things went their way, that cannot be denied. Buddy getting injured, Hannebury the same and not even getting a free kick. Some of the umpiring was hideous and if we copped the wrong end of that we'd be tearing the place down.
But they took their chances
In 09
We did not!!!

In '09 we didn't get charity umpiring. In tight games it makes the difference.BigMart wrote:They deserved it and made their own luck by getting there

The goal they got with the two in a row free kicks was critical

Not that I really cared that the sydney team lost what with all its concessions.
I get no joy out of other teams winning but I do get joy out of some teams losing.
Any weekend where the drug cheats, filth and bluebaggers lose is a good weekend afaic.
Call me a misery guts. I don't care and I'm too old to change. Not that I want to.
Re: Congratulations Bulldogs
Unlike Big Mart I'm not sick of the Bont because he seems genuinely not a big head.
I am sick of the media's love child Murphy and his "aw shucks" false humility. If just once today he deflected the spotlight he sought out towards those who actually won it and away from himself all this gush might be a bit more deserved.
That's off my chest . Good on the Dogs for winning, glad they did while Stringer was dead set easily worst on the ground.

It's actually a victory for risk taking believers over the incremental improvalists' school.
They punted, so many didn't, they won, others were risk averse, good freakin' luck to 'em.

Re: Congratulations Bulldogs
Seriously funny thread
Whinging Dogs got umpire help...
Dogs didn't kick umpteenth points when they had their chances - they took them
Morris was great against Duddy M Boyd tough as same for Picken, Libber
Face facts in 09 we won 19 straight. DOMINANT team of season but CHOKED when it mattered - we kick straight and out 5-6 on the Cats and I doubt (against the best defensive side for decades) they get us
We missed ,.... some from inside the goal square....think Schneider.... we blew it.

Re: Congratulations Bulldogs
Not trying to tell anyone else how to feel. Just saying how I feel about it and can't understand why people want to be so tight about the Dogs winning. The human element of such an unlikely victory resonates more than any envy I feel about us not winning. Be different if it was the drug cheats, Carlton et al.SaintPav wrote:Depends how you want to take it.st.byron wrote:Don't know if being insulting or not......SaintPav wrote:Yes!st.byron wrote:Are you responding to my post?SaintPav wrote:You're so virtuous

Re: Congratulations Bulldogs
I shouldn't have to, S, it's blindingly obvious - look at 'em - their defence is a mixture of almost geriatrics and skinny legged kids, their midfield is a blend of pygmies and inside outers, and their front half is, according to the medya, dominated by a bloke (No) Brain Taylor calls "The Package", who stuffed his initial half dozen possies today, by punting most into the crowd.saynta wrote:Say that again. The OtherThommo wrote:It's actually a victory for risk taking believers over the incremental improvalists' school.
They punted, so many didn't, they won, others were risk averse, good freakin' luck to 'em.
Yet, they won.How?
Part of their win today was due to the dilution of talent across the comp - Shytney have a great midfield, well a great inside midfield, consume how big a % of their Salary Cap on 2 blokes - Franklin & Tippett - whose contributions were scarce - which leaves them playing 7 first gamers this year, most of whom played today, and aren't much chop, yet they play in the GF?!?!
Shytney's best player today was likely Grundy (4 quarter argument - Kennedy struggled after the head knock - he was clearly BOG till then).
Jesus H, Christ, Shytney had Jeremy Laidler in a KP defence post in a GF!?!? Third club, never been any better than about a 3rd or 4th 'tall', and he's key in a GF?!?!
And, who were Shytney's ruck persons? Some unknown pillock started well early (Bwuce got really excited), but Roughead and Boyd were just too talented for Neddy Noname and Kurt Overpriced.
Beveridge continued to punt, Shytney can't afford to, the right side got the prize, and the adjudicators had f'all to do with it.

Re: Congratulations Bulldogs
mr six o'clock, that is a truly beautiful post - I love your family members already. Give them all a hug from me, they deserve their happiness at the Doggies win. I'm sure your sister-in-law will welcome big brother home when ever he gets home after celebrating. She knows a happy hubbie is a gorgeous person to live withmr six o'clock wrote:Well done dogs !
