I had the feeling some people were looking at O'Meara in this way. As a player to take us into the upper echelons. Very glad we have let him slide. Develop our own players, draft and trade intelligently and use free agency wisely when possible. But most of all develop our own culture and players from within. To the top wrote:To consider losing Armitage is a nonsense.
And Fugazi's 3rd line is also a nonsense.
The danger (excuse the pun) with recruiting a Dangerwood or a Treloar is that you get ahead of yourself in reasoning that such a player is going to have you still competing at the end of September.
It is team - and structure.

Considering we don't have a 2nd round pick, would we try swap 10 for two first rounds somehow? Or stick with 10 straight for the draft ?

So with the Brownlow on tonight is GWS's "Mad Monday" Tuesday instead, and in which case we may know on Weds if Steele want to join us or not?

Maybe the quiet confirms that Steele is our number 1 priority.Playon wrote:Supposed to hear sometime this weeksaintsRrising wrote:So with the Brownlow on tonight is GWS's "Mad Monday" Tuesday instead, and in which case we may know on Weds if Steele want to join us or not?
Bit surprised it's so quiet though ...
Re: Jaxons come on down
The club isn't letting any info out, only on a need to know basis, which makes it boring as hell

Well the closer it gets the more we know, but personally I also like to know those that were chasing and missed out on, as it shows what were trying to to do with our list. The 50/50s for example.
Are we looking for bargain basement deals or high quality deals, also ranks where our current list is at by those in the know

Damien Baret on FC said no club has made a play for Rockliff.....that counts him out as the 'big trade' for me it might mean we have Jack Roo in the gun or even Fyfe....Fyfe would be massive.

Re: Jaxons come on down
Jake Niall on On The Coach said a GWS player said he wants to return to Melbourne. I think he said James Stewart but I can't remember. If its him he is 196cm tall but it says he's a forward. We are obviously after mid fielders and defenders so its a no from me (if it was him that was mentioned).
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

Re: Jaxons come on down
If we are talking the Jaxons reuniting of kin....the only options are L. Weller or Jack Roo....really hard to see Freo giving up Weller.
How would a fwd line of Bruce, J.Reiwoldt, McCartin
Membrey and 2 of Billings, Sinclair, Lonie, Gresham or Mav perform.
Be hard to stop you would think.
Maybe get Jack Steele from GWs and best available mid with #10.

Not talking about this guy was he? Talk of if over at Bigfooty. He Played 18 games in a team that made the prelim with impressive numbers for a backman:Jacks Back wrote:Jake Niall on On The Coach said a GWS player said he wants to return to Melbourne. Looks like a nice Demspter replacement and partner for Carlisle. Fits the mould of the player we need but surely has a high price tag.

Re: Jaxons come on down
I doubt it is Haynes.
More like it is one of Matthew Buntine, Adian Corr or Adam Tomlinson who is on the move.

I think GWS will be using Davis, Haynes and Himmelberg as their three key defenders next year.

Re: Jaxons come on down
Rory Lobb also mentioned as one that wants to be traded ....200cm forward who is mobile and can pinch hit in ruck....big in...we struggled when hickey wasn't in the ruck and Bruce was a terrible option......not sure longer is dangerous enough forward to play longer and hickey....Lobb is a different story....work pick ten and longer IMO and a much better option than Jack.....can't see why we can't get Weller with a future second round

Re: Jaxons come on down
Lobb is being chased with big money by both WA clubs which is where he's from. Can't see him going to a Melbourne club if he leaves (which is far from certain). We can't get Weller with a future second rounder because he was a first round pick who has done nothing to lessen his value, is contracted and hasn't asked for a trade. The Recruit wrote:Rory Lobb also mentioned as one that wants to be traded ....200cm forward who is mobile and can pinch hit in ruck....big in...we struggled when hickey wasn't in the ruck and Bruce was a terrible option......not sure longer is dangerous enough forward to play longer and hickey....Lobb is a different story....work pick ten and longer IMO and a much better option than Jack.....can't see why we can't get Weller with a future second round

It's not unheard of for a player to get "lost" in Melbourne on the way to Perth...Mitch Clarke did it when he left Brisbane for Perth.mad saint guy wrote:Lobb is being chased with big money by both WA clubs which is where he's from. Re: Jaxons come on down
Sorry guys, Latest is Steele not coming. Infact NO ONE coming. Seems we cant attract anyone yet.
O wait except Tom Lamb. Thats right we are getting Tom Lamb. Fwiw I reckon he'll thrive back in Melbourne. Anyway, thats it.
Pick 10. Scrimshaw or Taranto we really keen on both if not will be VIC MID or DEFENDER.
Pick 64 to WCE for Lamb
Im sure Jaxons will back this up.
Pissed off we better get shiel or kelly next year. We need to become more attractive for players. Moorrabin and finals should help.
