This is what Damien Barrett said about St.Kilda in his Sliding Doors column @ AFL.com.au site.

Take it for what it's worth but our silence so far could mean we are working on some big things.....Lets hope so :)

Big trade period could mean many things....maybe we have a mass exodus on our hands???

Barrett is full of it. His next column will probably slag us off for being too quiet in the lead up to trade week....

Damien Barret like a lot of journos now.... If they don't have a story, just go on rumours and innuendo.

They don't just report the news, in many instances they try to make news stories. They are not accountable because they just write opinion pieces.

A lot just go through social media to find anything at all. Barrett wouldn't have the first clue about what we are doing.

I hope Barrett is talking about something like this......

Armo traded for pick 15 or better.
Pick 15 to GWS for Steele and pick 25 coming back to us.
Longer and pick 25 to Richmond for Dustin Martin.

If this happens I will be rapt.

Well I think that the Saints want to be big players as in to bring in several players and possibly some more top 30 picks, BUT it will depend on whether the deals stack up.

I would suspect
- That Steele is headed our way
- That Longer or Pierce are very trade-able, as are other fringe players. Longer/Pierce though be probably the only ones that would in themselves deliver significant value
- That the club wants another tall back either by trade or by FA (ie The Browns)
- That for the right deal that pick 10 and/or next years first is trade-able (ie Marchbank and Steele would have been a yes if Marchbank had of nominated us)

Bigfooty woken up to you already Citywest? What are you doing back here? Just trying to peddle an Armo rumour of your own making I suppose.

Not gonna lie that is probably the worst trade scenario ive seen in a long time. its up there with Billings and Pick 5 for Carlisle.

Steele's value as a 15 gamer is around the 2nd-3rd round especially with this foot injury.
Armo wouldnt get pick 15 after the year he just had. You're dreaming if you reckon would take that little of a deal for Martin who is probably going to be one of the best mids in the comp next year. For martin you're probably looking at 2 firsts or 1 and Longer.

In my eyes for this trade window they need to get; Steele, Mackenzie, Lamb and Keep our first rounder. Id only trade it if Rocky or Dusty wanted out.

I can assure you the Saints are into 'no-one' from said club in a big way but it's very unlikely they can pull that off

Take it for what it's worth....

For us to have a BOG trading session means Longer has to go at the very least.

Positioning nicely ... has to be L Weller.

Longer for LWeller in a 3 way deal
Steele for 3rd Round

Or

The rumours from many re fyfe.

I cant think of what else hed be referring to.

I disagree with you Wombat15. I reckon it would be a win win for both St Kilda and Richmond. I actually believe potentially, Richmond would be better off. They get a ruckman whop is 23 years old and ready to go plus pick 25 to kick start their rebuild. The only question mark in my suggestion is would there be a team willing to give us pick 15 or better for Armo.

My rebuttal would be; Dont trade armo our mids just arent ready, we dont really have the depth to be trading him. end of 2017 maybe but not at this "crucial" stage. With Dusty you are looking at a brownlow medal contender whos is richmonds version of jack steven. as he can win a game off his back and is borderline elite in the AFL ranks. Then with Billy longer who hasnt played for 12 months, unproven and not overly mobile and pick 25 which for this draft just wont cut it. In terms of steele he would be a fantastic pick up. but i would hate to see us pay overs for a 2nd rounder not getting a gig at his current club.

Our midfield is more than ready. Below I have listed our young guns who can play midfield.....

Steven.........134 games
Savage.........111 games
Newnes.........91 games
Weller..........90 games
Ross.............59 games
Dunstan........53 games
Billings.........42 games
Acres...........26 games

Armo's DOB is 16-06-1988. If we don't cash him in this year we never will.

It was mentioned on BF but you need a spread of talented players to win flags, not 1 or 2 over paid superstars...

I hope we are chasing Fyfe. Dont want Martin, or anyone else with tatts on their neck or head. Never met a person with same yet that was any good. Sorry, probably my professional backfround coming out.
