No NOT according to SEN..
A listener sent in an SMS stating that social media had Laverde re-signing which they read out and which could be any mug.

Straight after that the guest announcer stated that if Laverde left Essendon that he believed he would go to saints.

He should stay at the Bummers. Would be pissed off if a 2nd year player walked from the club like Cripps did

Wonder if a straight swap for Longer would be on the cards. It would be quite amusing to see Longer and Leuenberger at the same club again after Billy supposedly left Brisbane because he couldn't get opportunities ahead of Leuenberger. Laverde's trade value would still be a pick in the early 20s which we don't have - either we're going to have to split our first rounder or trade a player.

I bet Dudoro will say it's pick 10 or nothing, then refuse to budge until the last minute. Fun and games ahead, folks.

Geez I hope this is a joke post. Cripps is a gun and far from a receiver he averaged 25 disposals per game this year of which 15 were contested. He is a contested animal and I would kill to have him at the saints

I think they might have been referring to Jamie Cripps, now playing at west coast who was drafted by us in the Siposs draft year as oppsoed to Patrick Cripps from the blues who's stats you just used. I think he was a pick in the 20's or 30's if memory serves correct. Went home after a couple of years with us, but didn't seem to be any real hard feelings.

Another update from Jaxons.
Yesterday Laverde via his manager verbally accepted our offer to join the club.
This information has been communicated to Essendon.

Yes great news - but as I pointed out he could still do a turnaround and stay if Essendon end up matching our offer

Likely that the ball is still with Essendon on this one

Its gunna be a long 3 and a bit weeks until trade period opens up

For others like me who know nothing about Laverde, here is an article on him as a potential draftee in 2014. Sounded like a great prospect back then:

He was a great prospect then and still is. Trout really rates him and was keen on him from the start. He's quick, strong overhead, kicks well and is a good decision maker. Lots to like. Similar to Acres. Could end up a bit like BJ. Go for him, I say. He hasn't set the world on fire at the dopers, but lots of players take 2-3 years to build the right body and tank. He was a little thin when drafted, but a third preseason should see him right to go. Not everyone is a Bont or Gresh. Most take time. If he comes over, that means McCartin, Goddard, McKenzie and Laverde from the one draft. As Monty Burns would say, "Excellent!"

According to their fan forum they want Seb in return.

Tell 'em they're joking.

last year their board thought Seb was worthless when mentioned as a possible Carlisle trade.

Anyway.. clearly Seb is going nowhere

If he's not contracted, presumably he can walk into the pre-season draft?

Then we'd be dealing with Brisbane and a few others?

Of course not - Jax said Connors has informed the Saints that they are happy with our offer and Essendon have been informed - that's it

Doesnt mean Essendon can't up their existing offer to match ours

If so then Laverde might have a decision to make - currently though our offer is the only one they are happy to go with

Nothing to say another club cant come along as well and throw in their two bits - see Hawthorn with Carlisle

Its great news that Laverde is willing to come to us but reckon their could be a bit more play out - I hope I am wrong because on potential alone it could be another piece of the puzzle

Maybe there is something going on there - maybe he's not happy to see Parish leap frog him in his first year. Maybe he's FIGJAM and thought he should have played more last year or weren't happy with some brutal advice the coaches have said about defects in his game. But maybe it comes down to we've thrown incredible fat stacks in front of him and he can set himself up for life. How would Acres and Dunstan feel if he came in on half a mill a year? I think there are some risks there that I don't know are justified from what (very limited) I've seen of him

Bluthy - as I mentioned on another thread, I had quite a bit to do with Jayden Laverde in his early teen years in another sport. I have no idea what is going on with all this, but I can assure you he is a fine young fellow. Real trier, real team player. No FIGJAM about him. He will fit in well. I agree with you we must not pay overs, but don't worry about his character.

Oh no. Hope Jaxons isn't doing the Delphic Oracle thing - I'd hate predictions of "families coming together" to mean Seb to Essendon.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency
