So the vfl players that played seniors in the last round (even though they played virtually the whole season in the vfl) didn't get a game again. Something doesn't seem right about that crap.

Sam Fisher played in the seniors in the last round, and he is playing this weekend - so I have absolutely no idea why White, Lonie , Wright and McKenzie are not. I understand Holmes missing, as crazy to play 3 ruckmen, but no idea re the others. We can play up to 16 Saints in the Sandy team, and have only picked 14. Very strange.

The Seagulls were in fine defensive form when they last met Sandringham in Round 17, keeping the Zebras to a score of 1.14 to three-quarter time before prevailing by 24 points. Williamstown midfielders Willie Wheeler and Michael Gibbons were typically prolific that day, but they felt the heat of Collingwood’s tackling pressure in their Qualifying Final last week. Similarly, the hallmark of Sandringham’s Elimination Final victory was an ability to force Port Melbourne into crucial errors, with Myke Cook (24 disposals, 10 tackles) and Kade Answerth (17, 11 - pictured, right) a big presence in the clinches.

The Seagulls will want ruckman Nick Meese to win his battle with Billy Longer and provide silver service to those at his feet, then have them move the ball quickly to a versatile forward line boasting goalkickers Ayce Cordy, Sam Dunell and Leigh Masters. But reliable Zebras defenders Tom Simpkin, Luke Delaney and Elliot Le Grice are just as capable of winning the ball in the air and dishing off to speedy runners such as Eli Templeton and Jack Sinclair – and if that occurs, the reigning premiers will have their defensive credentials truly tested.

Fresh off a win for the ages, Sandringham will aim for a return to preliminary final week this Saturday against last year’s premiers Williamstown.

After humiliating Port Melbourne by 45-points, the Zebras looked a different side one that had dropped six of their last seven. While for Williamstown, they made the task of retaining their premiership all that bit tougher going down in the first week of September action.

As mentioned, Sandringham head into Saturday’s clash following a return to form against the Borough. Back to their relentless best, the Zebras dominated from start to finish – ruthless in the contest and clinical going forward.

Myke Cook was huge with 27 disposals, nine inside 50s and 10 tackles, while Tom Curren led all comers with 32 touches. Tom Lee (five goals) and Cam Shenton (four goals) booted nine between them.

In selection news, Brodie Murdoch will return following illness, with the side to be finalised tomorrow night. Kade Answerth will continue as the 23rd man.

Sandringham’s record against Williamstown in recent times has been poor, with the Seagulls taking out the last five outings. An inaccurate afternoon for the Zebras last time these two met, going down by 24 points.

Josh Saunders was excellent with 32 disposals and nine marks, while Tom Lee booted three final quarter goals.

Williamstown come in on the back of a significant loss, losing to Collingwood by 46 points last Saturday. Just two goals in the first half did the damage, with the Seagulls managing just seven majors for the afternoon.

Michael Gibbons had 26 disposals and seven tackles, while Sam Dunell was the side’s only multiple goal-kicker with two.
